According to official sources, a team of elite National Security Guard arrived at Calicut on Tuesday and screened the list of personnel deployed by Kerala police for Advani, who is a Z-plus category protectee.
The NSG team found names of two Muslim drivers in the carcade for Leader of Opposition's visit to Calicut. The elite Commando team demanded immediate withdrawal of the two, the sources said.
The two drivers were told that they had been taken off from the roaster duty without being assigned any reason.
The matter was raised with Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta by Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed who expressed his displeasure over such action.
Gupta informed Ahamed that Director General NSG J K Dutt has been asked to immediately probe the matter and take appropriate action against those responsible.
Kerala to probe 'ouster' of Muslim cops
Thiruvanathapuram/Kozhikode, October 15:
The Kerala Government ordered a probe by the DGP into reports of withdrawal of two Muslim policemen from duty during BJP leader L K Advani's visit to Kozhikode on Tuesday.
Following protests from the Indian Union Muslim League, the Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today ordered the probe.
While IUML demanded a high-level probe, the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner stoutly denied that the exclusion was on religious grounds as altogether six drivers had been dropped in the final round.
According to City Police Commissioner Anup Kuruvilla John, a total of 12 police drivers were chosen for the motorcade, comprising six vehicles during the trial run.
On Advani's arrival, six drivers were dropped which included non-Muslims also, he said. Only that out of the six, two happened to be from the minority community, he said.
Reacting to the report, IUML leader P K Kunhalikutty said, "this is a very serious incident and a shame on a state like Kerala."
He demanded that the government order a probe into the incident.
"If at all such an incident had taken place, then it is a shame on the entire state and on the entire nation," Kunhalikutty said at Kozhikode.

Advani needs to be honoured for making this nation aware of how much the Muslims are hated by the Hindus.
