Experts have also suggested a growing willingness among believers to describe themselves as Muslims because the western reaction to war and terrorism had strengthened their sense of identity.
The Muslim population multiplied 10 times faster than the rest of society, the research by the Office for National Statistics done during the period of 2004-2008 reveals. In the same period the number of Christians in the country fell by more than 2 million.
"The implications are very substantial. Some of the Muslim population, by no means all of them, are the least socially and economically integrated of any in the UK... and the one most associated with political dissatisfaction," David Coleman, Professor of Demography at Oxford University was quoted as saying by 'The Times'.
"You can't assume that just because the numbers are increasing that all will increase, but it will be one of several reasonable suppositions that might arise."
There are more than 42.6 million Christians in Britain, according to the Office for National Statistics, whose figures were obtained through the quarterly Labour Force Survey of around 53,000 homes.
Muhammad Abdul Bari, general secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain said that the greater platform that Muslims would command in the future should not be perceived as a threat to the rest of society.

The growth of fundalentalist parties like BJP in India is just a result of such growth based agenda of the Muslims. Habitually the muslims tend to believe in the most awfull things that they think as correct. Hence they also believe that if all citizens of a country become Muslim, it will be a better country. (Like Pakistan or afganistan?)
As far as i know "Muslim community and the Islamic teachings" they are true and effective.Muslims are growing since they are following their Holy Scriptures and God is Blessing them. We don't follow our Scriptures so we are not blessed.We drink Cows urine and we talk about cleanliness.Why should we feel jealous about that.We need to respect the truth not feel jealous about other's growth.If muslims grow in INDIA and follow their holy books strictly i bet INDIA will be the Best Country in the World.

This kind of statistical research with the conclusions and implications already decided is the main reason muslims feel targeted and alienated in the first place. had the research clearly stated that muslims are 5% of britains population, things will appear very different. but the need for publicity has caused the research to be shown as if muslims are just about to overrun britain :) and even if they do, whats the issue as long as they dont confuse nationality and religion and dont let religion take precedence over nation ?

I am so happy reading this news. I am proud of our tradition to have more then 1 wife, to sleep with young girls and to have as many children as possible. All this is God's blessings. it should be considered as increase in muslim voters--the rate of growth should be used to calculate when-2025 or earlier muslims voters will attain near mejority so that UK can be declared a country with ISLAMIC laws -- all this can be achieved easily because UK is democratic country and no. of voters will only decide the state and fate of UK

Historically, Muslims have an agenda to multiply themselves and wherever they have grown, they have threatened the local populations. That's why they subjugate Women and marry 4 wives. All secular societies are threatened by them. Basic tenet of Islam is that " Live in peace with all other muslims and fight and kill all other people. The question of whether or not christianity has kiiled more people than islam is yet to be settled. Each of these two religions will point at the otehr as the major offender. But the real issue is that christians and christianity in Europe has learnt from its past mistakes and are rectifying themselves, by behaving more humanely. Islam and muslims on the other hand refuse to change and adapt to the times, still retaining their medival, blood-thirsty attitudes of revenge, intolerance, and non-acceptance of other faiths. That is why, islam and muslims are viewed with fright and suspicion by people of other faiths and non-believers alike. Muslims have noone to blame but themselves for the sorry, pathetic plight of their religion, islma.

Dear Jhony,I dont know why people afraid of accepting the truth. Islam is relegion of peac and I am sure that if you read the authentic source Quran you will also be one of them. IT is not force that can change anybodys faith. dont just heard others view study it and realise.

It always has been the strategy of the Muslims to increase their Numbers disproportional to the natives.Britain was being nice to the Muslims unmindful of the threat in future.The Muslims were boasting that the day is not far off and there would be a Muslim Caliph in Buckingham Palace.Now they will certainly have fun say within 20 years.Now the process is irreversible.It is to be seen how the beacon of western civilization would face the problem.Hope our children may not see a great mosque on the site of Canterbury Church with a Caliph in Buckingham Palace with 8 British wives.
The increase in muslim population by 10 times is cause of concern, it is the one of the principle idia jehadi concept to increase their numbers as much as possible and as fast as they do by all available means, to achieve their aims if not by terror by the ballot. It is high time for West to come to terms with reality and CHANGE their immigations policies, otherwise they will lose the FREEDOM, for they invite outsiders to their countries.
