Muthalik

Mangalore Right wing group Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik, whose outfit evoked national outrage by attacking girls and boys at a pub, was banned from entering Mangalore district for one year.

The ban, ordered by the District Administrator and Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj following Muthalik owning up responsibility for the attack in January this year, official sources said.

The Sri Rame Sene chief was earlier banned from entering the district for 15 days during 2003, the sources said.

In act of 'moral policing' against pub culture, Sri Rame Sene activists had attacked women and others at the pub on January 24, raising the hackles of women's bodies with some organising 'pink chaddi' (underwear) campaign, sending thousands of undergarments to Muthalik.

The Hindu outfit, obscure until the pub attack, had also threatened to disrupt the February 14 Valentine's Day celebrations.

Teddy bear picnic by Suresh iyer on 17 Mar 2009

Some posts here have demanded that Muthalik should be jailed. In a country where a terrorist attacked the parliament and is enjoying the five star hospitality of the state, this teddy bear picnic by Muthalik is being unnessarily hyped by some pseudo sickulars and their followers.

This is not enough by Shiva Gopalakrishnan on 17 Mar 2009

This guy has terrorized everyone in the Bangalore area during his Valentine's day threat. What is the use of banning him from Mangalore. He choose to curtail the rights granted by the constitution. The apt punishment would be to put this guy behind bars for the next 5-7 years and make sure he does not breath free air. The big question that begs everyone is that, why are the 40 goons who attacked the pub scott free.

All's well that ends well by Sensible Indian on 17 Mar 2009

There's no way to keep this guy and his friends in jail for life? Really? Ah, that's tragic...but knowing him he'll do something more stupid very soon to put him away behind bars for a looonng time. And I'll drink to that!! :)

I am sure many comments were made, but no comments appeared. The comments are not moderated, but the automated moderator does not allow any legal and decent words even to be posted. If this is a game by Indian Express and Shekar Gupta, then i hope Indian Express goes downhill and disappears.

Will the court do the same in Kashmir? Girls cannot go out alone anywhere. Why turn a blind eye there?

WHO IS RENUKA TO REJECT NCW REPORT OF NIRMALA VENKATESH by KUMAR on 16 Mar 2009

Renuka should stop hissing at one and all like OSAMA BIN LADEN. Karnataka govt. knows very well what is its duty.It need not learn from her. Renuka should know that it is not a govt. under anybody's mercy; it is duly elected by the people of Karnataka. Where is RENUKA when so many girls and women are being RAPED almost eneryday in Delhi. oh What can she do...ITs CONGRESS GOVT in DELHI. She had no voice when women were raped and butchered by CPM hoodlums in NANDIGRAM...anyhow a friend of CONGRESS at that time. She had no voice when Biharis were virtually booted out in MUMBAI- because CONGRESS govt. once again. When she is not doing her constitutional duty impartially as it is in case of NCW REPORT OF NIRMALA VENKATESH what is she bragging at? Who is she to REJECT the report while accepting a report from a constitutional authority is binding. She is behaving like a DICTATOR. She should stop talking in media and concentrate on real works.

No Politics by Sumit on 17 Mar 2009

I did not understand the reason for posting this comment. This article is related to PM, who did something, which was not appreciated by most of the people in country. This is not an article which is about any poilitical party. You may ask her these question on a different page. If you are supporting PM and his party then please ask the court to reconsider the decision. At this point none of the state government should support them for their activities. This is the time when we need to get together and make people learn that - Indian constitution has given rights to everyone an we all can exercise our rights freely. Be it any gender.

COMMUNITY SERVICE by Niranjan on 16 Mar 2009

IF THESE OUTFITS REALLY WANT TO PERFORM SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY, LET THEM TAKE CARE OF PEOPLE WHO HARASS WIVES FOR DOWRY. DOWRY IS NOT AN INDIAN CULTURE, NOR IS WIFE BEATING. IF THEY CAN TEACH THESE WIFE BEATERS A LESSON, THAT WOULD BE GREAT SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.

muthalik by george on 16 Mar 2009

this again shows that BJP is not a fundamentalist party like congress,SP,BSP or the so called third front which runs behind muslims for their vote banks.BJP stands well above all other parties, and for the good of the country should come to power with a big marjin.

PRISONER OF CIRCUMSTANCES by K Sundar on 16 Mar 2009

Only the Courts are the last solace as the Karnataka Government is hand in glove with these fanatics and rabble rousers who are helping them to polarize the electorate just before the Lok sabha elections. One can only pity the people of Karnataka for they have become prisoner of circumstances.
