The BJP, which was represented in the state by a lone member, emerged as a strong force and won 11 seats, while the only other party which improved its position in the Assembly elections was PDP.
Against 16 in the 2002 elections, PDP improved its tally to 21 this year.

Congress lost three seats as compared to 2002. The party had won 20 seats in the previous elections and could only manage 17 seats this time.
The CPI(M), which had two members in the outgoing Assembly, lost one seat to PDP President Mehbooba Mufti but retained the Kulgam seat where party's state secretary M Y Tarigami won despite stiff resistance from PDP.
Democratic Party Nationalist President Ghulam Hassan Mir retained his Gulmarg seat, while Peoples Democratic Front President Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen again won on Khansahib seat.
Yaseen, however, was defeated by NC candidate in Budgam district.

Oh What a fool u must be Raghunathan. I am sure u will lick when NDA may get more than UPA (Communists not counted).U r unfit to have the name..I am sorry
It is a sure sign that BJP is going to sweep the MP Poll provided the educated start voting for a change. But the country with just Pseudo secular arm chair critics are the main worry. We just need two party system - do not care if it is called congress or bjp or xyz.
who in his right mind will ever vote for bjp in the national elections... they know only to bark like dogs.. in the 7 years of their "governance" we hardly saw them doing anythng better.. except they were better in doing scams... uti scam, co-op banks scam, telecome scam, defence scam, coffin scam, petrol pump allotment scam, tehelka etc etc.. add to it their communal agenda, gujarat riots, nhrc text books, interference wid iim, plus negligence in national security issues, like kargill blunder, plane hijack, parliament attack... current govt is not at all the best, but at least has few individuals on whom we can trust... esp on financial, foreign policy and administrative matters...
I guess you guys are not satisfied with what is happening. You need more of it, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi. Just because of you terrorists will keep on coming and killing and we will keep on voting pseudo seculars. Go ahead, next targets are your family members. Atleast, with BJP we have someone who can atleast think of Indians not like the way we being governed, where with the name of majority, majorities interests are in jeopardy.
I don't know who is living in a fools paradise..but i can't forget 73 riots, 450 scams (the biggest Harshad Mehta, Oil for Food in Iraq, Quatrochi, Bofors) and hundreds of criminal leaders in the party, supporter like lalu, paswan and minister like patil, Arjun, Antulay, on top of that anti hindus policies and making fool the minority community for the last 60 years with their psedu-secularism....the list is endless for Congress....
