New Delhi, October 6: The NCP on Monday sought a ban on Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) along with Bajrang Dal, whose activists party chief Sharad Pawar had dubbed as terrorists.

"Any outfit working beyond the parameters of the Constitution should be banned," NCP General Secretary Tariq Anwar said when asked whether his party favoured a ban on MNS along with the Bajrang Dal.

MNS has been running a campaign against north Indians in the state and the outfit's chief Raj Thackeray had been banned from making addressing rallies or press conferences.

Addressing a party meeting in Alibaug in Maharashtra on Sunday, Pawar had suggested that Hindu groups like Bajrang Dal can also be labelled terrorists going by their actions and wondered why Muslims alone were being targeted as terrorists.

"If Muslims are being targeted as terrorists, why no action is taken against Hindu groups like Sanatan Prabhat and Bajrang Dal," he had said.

Shameful and Selfish Sharad pawar by Bhudev on 07 Oct 2008

This guy is the same coward who was the first to run away from the Delhi capital when Parliament was attacked. His proposed to first protect the politicians. Such selfish is this man who will sell his motherland to save his paralysed body. Shame on such politicians.

Mr. Pawar Please donot have double standards by Shripad Halbe on 07 Oct 2008

If Mr. Sharad Pawar is so much concerned about terrorism that he is calling for a ban on MNS and Bajarang Dal, why is he not talking a word about the SIMI? Does he consider it to be a patriotic party?

Good by Reader on 07 Oct 2008

This is a very welcoming statemen, because these sort of stupid organizations are destroying the name of Hinduism around the world.

Who is terrorist by ARY on 07 Oct 2008

I think NCP should be declared as terrorist organization as Mr Pawar is responsible for the death of most of the farmers in the country. So is Mr Anwar going to do anything about it

pawar speaks by Kaaul on 07 Oct 2008

Bajrang Dal and VHP/BJP activists can't be called terrorists even if they manage to kill more than 2000 in Gujrat or kill innocent christians and priests in Kadhamal. They should be protected by special laws according to Mr Sushant and Sanket and company .Good thought.

Internal security matters by Krishan K Arora on 06 Oct 2008

Sharad Pawar is right in dubbing that anyone violating the Constitution Of India be banned irrespective of their religion but is he waking up so late ater the damage having been done. All these leaders wake up very very late and such double-faced leaders must be discarded by the people in future.

Organization Name does not have relevance in cases of crime by kwe on 06 Oct 2008

Instead of bajrang dal, they might as well call themselves as AntiConversion Dal or Brigade or sqad. Does name matter for this case, the law will consider crime as crime, terror as terror, conversion as conversion. In some countries, conversion is punisable to death by LAW and yet these are western worlds darling because they give them preference trade. They know negative impacts of conversion, India is naive when things go out of hand, it slaps the wrong hand. Pray the Buddist sutra Golden mantra. Violence has karmic reaction that is equal and more of same that one does. Join our Buddist without need for conversion and carry on the tribal traditions and even maoism. Pray to heal the world and even the enemy.

Truth from a giant politician by Asad on 06 Oct 2008

LATE BUT CORRECT at last a minister like Pawar cadre dare to speak truth against such giant hard core outfit whose roots suppose to be across governing body including so called liberal media, which is maliging islam in all the possible way it can. India needs not only such type of statement but prompt action as well in order to maintain the peace across the country.I am asking to so called public protector-Police, Why targeting Muslims ? To whom you want to please ? why you forget your job of prevailing peace instead you are harassing, disturbing normal of the people, making life difficult for muslims, why? why ?Why you want muslim to hate all khaki wardi ?Instaed of feeling safe, secure Muslims are insecure. Your duty is to maintain peace not harass normal people.

Retire Mr Pawar. by Sushant Patil on 06 Oct 2008

When people become old, they loose control between the brain and tongue. So is the case with Mr Pawar. He should retire. Can he speak on the issue of purchase of wheat from Australia at Rs 11/- per KG and offering wheat grown by farmers in INDIA for Rs 9/-? His hand are trapped under this deal of 9000 tones of wheat from australia last year. He is surely OLD, and must retire. He cannot digest moden politics.

Pawar is bogged down by weight od Tariq Anwar by Sanket Kulkarni on 06 Oct 2008

I can not believe that a person like Pawar can make such comments. If he is trying to equate Bajarang Dal or MNS with IM and HUJI then it speaks very poorly of him as a politician who has 50 years of public life behind him.Where as he can call MNS as trouble makers,if he thinks so,his calling a political party "terrorist" is an indication that Tariq Anwars are putting a lot of weight on him.

NCP by manan on 06 Oct 2008

What is in making statement, you are a part of the government. Go ---go ahead and ban these outfits.

Pawar's comments by Aravind on 06 Oct 2008

While we know Mr. Pawar's political overtures, can he sincerely say that none in his party has underworld links.

NCP by D.A.eswar on 06 Oct 2008

Why NCP and Pawar are not asking ban on SIMI and execution of Afzal Guru for Parliament attack and put pressure on Dr. Manmohan Singh by quitting UPA ? Instead they are showing their ire against Hindus and Bajrangdal. Indian voters reject this type of parties and leaders who were selfish and fell shy to fight terrorism as terrorists unfortunately belong to Islam

Are you nuts Mr. Easwar ? by henry on 07 Oct 2008

Since when are you competent in trying to speak on behalf of Indian voters ? The majority of Hindus are smart enough to identify true love for religion from the hocus pocus politics of hatred professed by MNS, Bajrang Dal and VHP. Even the BJP is tired of this embarrasment in their Pariwar.

ban bagrangadal by ar nujum on 06 Oct 2008

terrorism by robert. on 06 Oct 2008

Wake up india, before there is a full flesh killing our own indian, the govt must act on these terrorist group like bajrang dal, vhp and so on, or we will end up like afghanistan where some one will come and try to clear the mess, and more mess will be created.

terrorism by Mumbaiwallah on 07 Oct 2008

It is always interesting to read comments from people with names like Robert or Joseph. For some unknown reason to me they are the most vociferous of the lot expecting and advocating ban on all Hindu groups or organizations terming them as terrorists or troublemakers. The way Christians and Muslim voters vote in election this is not surprising. When these people are prompted by priest in church about who to favour in politics it is well understood. Roberts Josephs you are very safe in this country. Don't cry unnecessarily and keep ill feelings towards majority hindus. What you are doinng is indeed not good for your country India. VHP and Bajrang dals are not out there harming india for sure. So better wake up to this reality.
