Kolkata, June 16 The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous scientific and research organisation under the Ministry of Culture, is bustling with national and international projects. The NCSM is engaged in the popularisation of science and technology.

At present, their agenda consists of creating eight science centres within the nation and one outside the country in Kathmandu, Nepal.

They also have invitations and collaborative ventures with foreign countries like Finland, Denmark and Egypt to conceptualise new imaging exhibits. The national plans are estimated to incur a total expenditure of Rs 8.5 lakh, which will be shared, by the Centre and the respective state governments.

In August, NCSM will be sending their team of experts to Finland to conceptualise new exhibits on different forms of imaging, virtual and real images.

They will also be going to Alexandria, Egypt, to aid their experts in making interactive exhibits.

“We would be brainstorming different imaging techniques to develop new exhibits, sophisticated methods of viewing images,” said Ingit Mukherjee, director general, NCSM. The council has also received invitations from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Maldives among others to either aid them in building science centres or to develop new exhibits. Being already overloaded with projects, they have not yet decided on their new international invitations.
