New Delhi, July 18: The NDA will use the July 22 trust vote to pin the UPA Government on a range of issues like “governance-deficit”, “national drift” and “discrimination against NDA governments”, apart from the nuclear deal. With nervousness palpable in sections of the UPA Government after the Left stepped up its anti-nuclear deal campaign, the BJP-led alliance met in New Delhi to put in place a plan “to topple the Government”.

“There’s a complete failure of leadership in Government. The sooner this Government goes, the better it is for us,” said party general secretary Arun Jaitley, after a meeting of NDA chief ministers and senior leaders at prime ministerial candidate L K Advani’s residence. “Rising prices and internal security are the prominent issues in addition to the nuclear deal.”

A couple of days ago, when the numbers game was seen to be favouring the UPA, the BJP-led alliance had kept its opposition low-key. With the trust vote threatening to become a touch-and-go affair, the saffron party does not want to appear losing the initiative to the Left, a reason that explains the sudden spring in its strides.

“The country is exasperated with the UPA. We regret that the office of the Prime Minister and the continuation of this Government is being reduced to a bargaining counter,” said Jaitley.

In the event of the Government falling during the trust vote, the BJP will, however, not attempt to form an alternative government. “We will go back to the people,” said Venkaiah Naidu earlier at the party headquarters.

Asked if NDA had the numbers, Jaitley said, “NDA will harness all its strength in the Lok Sabha...Parties other than NDA are also voting against the Government. There are many parties which are our adversaries and are voting against the UPA.” He said the UPA appeared to be losing its confidence as the vote of confidence drew near.

Beaware of Leftists/Stalinists. by Dr Narayan Singh Rao on 18 Jul 2008

By opposing Nuke Deal BJP would strengthen the cause of China which is knocking on the doors to enter in our territory from north.BJP must understand that in 1962 China withdrew its army only because USA mobilised its Navy and started providindng weapons and air cover when PLA cme up to Bom -di- la.Nuclear dealwith USA will help to reduce our dependence on gulf countries and clen energy would be available to our people.Mojor cause of inflation and price rise is our imported oil from gulf countries.Even if BJP comes to power it will have challenging tasks of tackling inflation, providing environment friendly and clean energy sources and security of our northern frontier. In absence of Nuke deal BJP canoot deal with these chllenges.By opposing the deal BJP may also loose its support base in the rapidly growing middle class. The option before BJP is either support the deal or remain absent at the time of voting.BJP might pay aheavy price for opposing the deal by collaborating with left.

With the BJP

BJP has to draw lessons from History. by DILIP/FRANCE on 18 Jul 2008

BJP has to walk the tight rope carefully.Whilst we will be relieved to see a BJP Govt at the helm,by the same token we would also be keen to see through the Nuclaer Deal, which we believe is in the Nations interest. Caution should be the watch word and must not appear to be eupohric in bringing down UPA and take the electorates for granted.many are aware of the charade and shenneghans, that are taking place daily.BJP will do well to rfer to history and the pit falls of premature gloating. Finally,it will be lamentable if the Nuclaer Deal is voted down, but we can assure all detractors, that eventually this deal will be ratified and the strategic allaince cemented. It will be a real irony, the combined forces of a so called secular party and a communal party, bring down a Supreme Secular party and is made to eat humble by the same ferals who had a freeride for over 4 years.Shame and a bloody stab in the back, the Gulag gate keepers are treacherous and untrustworthy, for all too see.

Toggle by Hinderance in Development on 18 Jul 2008

Parties talking about toggling clearly indicates about level of extremism which has entered in there blood to spoil a stable govt which is working toward development and wants india to progress as a developed nation .You may call it Extremism or a blood cancer / tumour which has entered so much in the head of some who just wants to spoil harmony and are happy to have this country with out power, development , unity.

Thugs of BJP by Rajiv Kumar on 18 Jul 2008

It will be unfortunate if thuggish BJP come to power and start ruining the country all over again. More than physical damage it is by affecting mindset that does the greater damage. Otherwise what else can explain the eulogies for a criminal like by Modi. In any civilized society he would have been tried for crimes against humanity. All this is due to the damage to the psyche of middle class during NDA regime or even earlier by saffron brigade. The traversty is that the Left which has claimed to fight communalism is helping to bring back thugs of BJP back to power. Communists don't realise that it will be a darker version of BJP with menacing influence of criminal Modi that will have to deal with.

NDA rolls out 'topple Govt' plan by Viduran on 18 Jul 2008

Both BJP and CPM are patriots in their own way but both not making the grade to distinguish between reality and fantasy due to their sloppy mind. This is somewhat parallel to the sad situation faced by Dhritarashtra (in the Mahabarata) who refused to face rationale and unwillingness to tackle hard decisions and shifting the blame on ‘fate’ instead of his inaction due to his physical blindness. It is worth to quote what an adviser told to Dhritararashtra, “O king, surely a man who meets with calamity as a result of his own acts should not blame gods, destiny, or others. Each of us receives the just rewards of our actions.”In a democracy the nation receives the just reward for the actions of its chosen representatives. Who will be the wise counsellor to this nation of a billion souls at this decisive decision making process on the n-deal?

Dynasties don't last for ever by YD on 18 Jul 2008

The fact is Karma has caught up with Congress. Congress wrote its death warrants when they started dynastic sychophancy. Dynasties do not last for ever. Laloo had started dynastic rule in Bihar but Biharis finished Laloo and this time he will struggle to have even five MPs. SP has joined a sinking ship while others have left in a hurry. BJP will write its death warrants if they also start dynastic rule or will not work very hard for people, particularly poor. Congress had easy ride upto now but BJP does not have that luxury.

Childish Behaviur by Deepak on 18 Jul 2008

Mr.Arun Jaitley, who privately backs the Nuke Dealis now behaving like a tough brat that reminds you of his student union days at D.U.He's anotherleader like Prakash Karat who hasn't grown up.Just oppose everything for the sake of being a rebel and undercut the opponent.

NDA rolls out 'topple Govt' plan by Guru on 18 Jul 2008

Its highly difficult to understand the rather immature behaviour of the BJP as far as the topple Govt plan is concerned. They are unnecessarily trying to wrest the bad-man image of bringing the downfall of the govt, when the situation has been handed over to them on a platter. Meawhile the congress, which has misruled the country all these decades and responsible for the numerous problems we are facing, would happily encash the sympathy factor. Its needless to say that the Indian voter still goes by his heart and rarely by factual judgement. BJP better show restraint and allow things to follow.

impending demise of upa by an indian on 18 Jul 2008

Not only this government should fall, its formation was a tradegy-in the begining it looked farce-but with passage of time Manmohan Singh and P.Chidambaram showed their true colors;the former his enthusistic pro-Bush approach, the later his pro-rich policies. Before deciding to extend outside support the left would have put forward an explicit demand that these two anti-poor leaders(so-called) would not be in any cabinet and in case Congress would have shown any reluctance the left should have refused.Keeping BJP at bay was necessary but keeping these two men at bay was more important.I am pretty sure left parties must be regretting their decision. But its too late.

Work together Congress by Rajan on 18 Jul 2008

Congress and BJP need to work for the progress of India and its people. The BJP started the nuke deal and the Congress is completing it. The Congress needs to work closely with non-Congress states or so that this kind of situation never occurs. Chidambaram needs to help reverse the partisan atittude. Both BJP and Congres are vital to the country - but NOT the Communists who are the most volatile and worst parasites on the society.

BJP the terminator by chanakya on 18 Jul 2008

What ever may be the terminolgy, but now it is almost certain that shutters are down for UPA. So what next. After the end of present government, fresh elections are to be called for. Can we expect wonders to happen. No way. Once again fractured verdict and we will be watching the parties trying reallign for the loot of National wealth. Poor small parties will be running pillar to post to market their worth. Biggest loosers would be Communists who along with their senior partner congress will have to sit in Opposition watching NDA ruling the roost. Atleast now stock markets will celeberate this news irrespective of inflation and high prices. As Mr.Advani says people will have more self confidence even though they donot have roti to eat. At the end, all the preparators of this scheme will have to re think as to whether they killed the golden goose.

Congress treason of India by ANIL KUMAR on 18 Jul 2008

Why people still ignore the misrule of congress which has given miseries and poverty to India? After 60 years of corruption promoted rule by congress India is fraught with majority of poor people who cannot feed themselves daily. How much more time congress want to rule country to eradicate poverty and uplift dalits and OBCs? Is there any time line by which congress can deliver on its promises turned into lies after every election victory. Last time congress used Aam Admi plank and delivered only high prices and inflation where a poor is left with no money at all and is in big debt. The main reason behind congress for not eradicating poverty and illiteracy is that once it happens congress will be non existent and then how their generations will feed them selves on false promises. One can see that congress is out of power consistently in all state elections . My analysis foretells the future of congress party is very bleak for next 20 years. People who voted out congress are not fools

Its difficult to Topple Congress Govts by SureshV on 18 Jul 2008

Read History, Congress govt's are not easy to topple.Congress can go for any extent to save their goverment. BJP can loose and win elections but can survive even when not in power. But congress cannot survive with out Political power. They can choose any path that will bring them back to power. The economy of and cultural ethics of India are in a bad shape. The highly qualified economists of UPA have failed in all aspects and for congress politics and survival is the most important aspect.World bank can become bankrupt but Congress bank accounts will always be full and they are sure money can purchase any thing in india.I advice BJP to concentrate on real issue and expose the congress and UPA done during these 4 years.

wise people keep their mouth shut by sarma on 18 Jul 2008

BJP has lot no of jerky reactors. they could have simply said that they are not happy by the details of the pact so they are against it. the purpose will be solved.why they want to become villians who toppled the govt. keep it to the comrades.as usual during the time of elections, BJP does some mess and looses every thing. by opening the mouth BJP is showing its low IQ status.

Toppling stable Government-The only Objective by Rajkumar Kamal on 18 Jul 2008

In the mad quest for toppling a stable government appears to be the only objective of NDA. Nuclear deal which is in the best interests of the country for solving energy and defence problems of the nation is a mere mask.

Stable govt., are you sure? by Tushar arora on 18 Jul 2008

Stable govt. which gave us stable 26 major terrorist attacks, stable religious discrimination against Hindus and their gods, stable partisan that muslims have first right on everything in Bharat, stable rise in inflation to 12%, stable common minimum govt, stable loss of jobs, stable discriminatory reservation policies, stable rise in food prises, stable rise in poverty, and finally stable rise in dynasty system in disguise of democracy ruled by a dictator sonia maino by misusing a spineless puppet minister. What a stable govt.

Topple Government???? by Ashok on 18 Jul 2008

This is a stupid move by BJP. Especially, when it is more or less assured that it will win the elections the following year. This government must be allowed to stay on to its full term, commit all the blunders it wants to, and fail on its own steam, rather than be toppled by a vindictive-appearing BJP.

You are correct by Seema on 18 Jul 2008

I agree let this communal congress govt. fall under its own weight, we are bringing BJP back anyways.
