Jammu A workers organisation in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to release the pending instalment of the Dearness Allowance (DA) due from July in favour of state government employees and pensioners before Eid-ul-Zuha.

"We appeal the Chief Minister and Finance Minister A R Rather to release the pending instalment of DA at the rate of five percent due from July last in favour of the state government employees and pensioners before the coming Eid-ul-Zuha," National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Subash Shastri told reporters here.

He said a memorandum has been submitted to Abdullah and Rather in this regard.

Shastri said since the central government and most of the states have extended this benefit to their employees and pensioners, the Jammu and Kashmir government should also take a positive decision on this issue.

Other demands projected in the memorandum include release of remuneration of motivators working in Integrated Watershed Development Programme (IWDP) by implementing the court decision, regularisation of all daily wagers and issuance of regularisation orders of 180 daily wagers of Rural Development Department and conversion of casual labour into Permanent Daily labourers (PDLs).
