Mumbai, March 16 Fool your way to glory, rob others of luck and make a fortune — these are the mantras at Euphoria, the annual cultural festival of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) that began on Friday.

The theme of the four-day fest this year is the 'Grand Heist' inbuilt with a number of other ‘swindles’. With competitions based on the concepts of ‘gambling’, ‘betting’, ‘robbery’, casinos, cash prizes worth Rs 4 lakh are up for grabs during the fest.

Hussain Bandi, media coordinator, Euphoria, says, “This theme is all about swindling, looting and winning the booty. Each cell of NMIMS has come up with ideas based on the theme of Heist for the competitions.”

For instance, there is Ocean of Greed - the brainchild of the Human Resources cell — in which participants were given tasks to complete a ‘robbery plan’. One of the most popular competitions this year is a mock stock simulator competition, aptly titled ‘Warren Bluffet’.

Siddharth Srinivasan, a Euphoria team member, says, “Forget the principles of transparency, efficient markets and price discovery. Here, we have our own shares of handpicked companies with the greatest potential to bomb, and the wackiest products you could imagine. It largely depends on audience participation.” In ‘A Wild Sleuth Chase’, a one-day event, two-member teams had to trail throughout Vile Parle, Juhu area and search for clues in order to hunt for the bounty.

Sandeep John Mathew, president, Euphoria said, “We have already seen participation of over 1,000 students in the first two days itself from around 250 colleges, mostly B schools, throughout India.”

Other competitions include Treasure Hunt, El Dorado — an online quiz, Adtakshari-antakshari of ad jingles, Dumb Charades, Junkyard Wars that tests tour creative capability of building something from nothing, Just A Minute, Euphoria corporate and general quiz among several others.

Bandi added, “Euphoria incorporates business and management concepts with fun-filled activities, thus giving us a much needed respite during our academic course and that is what makes students look forward to it each year.” Euphoria also hosted Makarand Deshpande’s play Sa Hi Besura on Friday and Indian Ocean and Zero performances on Sunday.
