Jagdeep Chahal, 32, surrendered to police on Saturday after the woman, who is in her 40s, lodged a complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted in the bathroom of the club after a date rape drug was slipped into her drink on January 22, the media in Toronto reported.
Police credited the release of a surveillance video with helping identify Chahal, a resident of Brampton, who is allegedly responsible for the assault, the 'Toronto Star' reported.
The video showed him entering the club with another man. "We got phone calls to identify these people. The individual has brought himself forward and turned himself in with counsel," Det. Const. Mike Norman of the Sex Crimes Unit was quoted as saying.
The accused was interrupted by a club-goer and fled sometime between midnight and 12:30 a.m. local time, another newspaper 'Toronto Sun' said on its online edition.
Chahal -- charged with sexual assault and administering a noxious thing -- was not known to police before this incident, Norman said.
The other man in the video released to the media on Friday was identified, but not charged, he added.

I am providing a brief UPDATE of the results of the unfounded charges against Mr Jagdeep Chahal. More specifically, Mr Jagdeep Chahal was initially charged with administering a noxious substance and sexual assault pursuant to the Criminal Code. After the preliminary hearing, the charge relating to the supposed %u201Cnoxious substance%u201D, which was never specified, but published in the media as a DATE RAPE DRUG was dismissed outright. Further the Crown Attorney was advised that there was NO EVIDENCE upon which to proceed on the remaining charge and the Crown Attorney withdrew the charge. To ensure safety, the Crown Attorney decided to re-evaluate the evidence. After conducting a further investigation and conferring with the police, the Crown Attorney concluded that there was in fact no relevant evidence against Mr Jagdeep Chahal. The final charge was withdrawn in Superior Court of Canada by the Senior Crown Attorney.
