Chandigarh, February 9 A Sector 35 resident, Savtanter Singh, an NRI from Canada now settled in Chandigarh, claimed that he and his family members were receiving threat calls from an unidentified person, at the behest of his son’s in-laws, who are based in Hanumangarh.

While addressing mediapersons at his residence in Sector 35, Singh said that his son Lavpreet Singh and daughter-in-law Manalika were facing strains in their relationship, following which she had filed for a divorce at the local court here, which is pending.

Singh alleged that Manalika’s family had filed a case against Singh, his son and other family members on charges of demanding dowry and ill-treatment, which too is pending in court.

“Since Manalika is longer in cordial terms with us or our son, there was no point of her staying here. However, she and her family forcibly took over this house while we were away in Canada. Even though Manalika is not staying here, her parents are repeatedly threatening us, for which Chandigarh Police have already given us two security guards. Now calls from this unknown person have ruined our peace,” Singh alleged.

On of the police officers informed, “As far as the threat calls are concerned, the law will take its own course. We will definitely investigate the matter.”
