"All operations are over. The NSG has formally reported that the operations are complete and now Taj, Oberoi and Nariman House are being sanitised. There are no more terrorists now in Mumbai. All have been liquidated or captured alive," M L Kumawat, Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry, said in Delhi.
The magnitude of the attack by suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba elements, who are believed to have come by the sea route from Karachi, could be gauged from the statement of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra R R Patil who said with the ammunition the terrorists had, they could have killed 5,000 people.
NSG Chief J K Dutt, who announced the end of ‘Operation Black Tornado’ in which his commandos took on the heavily-armed ultras, said in all they eliminated eight terrorists--four in Taj, two in Trident-Oberoi and two in Nariman House. Another terrorist was killed by the Mumbai police on Wednesday night while one was captured alive.
The elimination of the four terrorists in Taj came on Saturday morning after intense battle between the commandos, who believed there was a lone gunman holding out, and the terrorists who kept exploding grenades at periodic intervals.
The security forces rescued 250 people in Oberoi, 300 in Taj and 12 families of 60 people in Nariman House.
Dutt said five bodies were recovered alongwith those of some terrorists in Taj and there was indication that these five were killed in the initial part of the hostage crisis.

My condolence to all indians for the war strike in Mumbai. We in europe are in total grave with the act of terrorism. I congrate Indian Commandos for their actions. Bravo! Now all Indians regardless of Hindu or Muslim should stand together and fight this terror. Hit back right at their heart where it hurst. Let the teorrist know, India is untouchable. As a foreigner I am deeply saddened by the atrocities committed in Bombay, which is one of the great cities on the planet. It’s the spirit and resilience of the people I hugely admire.Seeing the Taj burn was utterly heartbreakingIt’s extremely sad that Bombay has lost 3 top cops. My thoughts are with the all victims and their families.Despite several terrorist attacks in the past the police is still ill equipped, I think it took too long to deploy the Special Forces, who did a fantastic job. We have spineless and brainless politicians as leaders of the country. Will they release the actual number of indians dead. From my friends brother who is Taj employee says that more than 500 people have been killed. But they are releasing the total dead as 200 including the dead count from CST as 75. Why didnot they announce a curfew after the incident. why didnot they announce a media black out. the media has compromised the surprise of the special forces attack. NDTV has shown the exact location of snipers. Are they working for India or giving information to the terrorists. Burkha dutt is not teling the terrorists are from Pakistan and say it could be from hindu terrotists. In addition our honorable home minister also released the exact orbat of the special forces and the time of the attack. If the attackers are muslims media is referring them as militants or gunmen f there is a possibility they are hindu without remorse media is referring the attackers as Hindu terrorists.

Agree partially. I think, first we should also take care of the terrorists inside. This operation was not possible without internal support. Startegy should multi-pronged, punishment for the hard-core and additionally education/enlightenment for the misguided. But the initiative has to come from the minority community. It is as much your country as it is mine. I have no doubt that most of the people in minority community are as patriotic as I am, but it is the call of our times that they show it to the people, who doubt them. Get education, join public service, armed forces etc. Once this side of the minority is visible to majority community, they will embrace you. Let us work together as Indians.

The point is these terror strikes will keep happening so long as Congress is in power, since Congress supports Parliment attackers, just because they are muslims.. though 17 of our soldiers died in that gun battle in Parliament, Congress/Sonia/the PM support Geelani and Afzal. That kind of behaviour from Congress tells the (muslim) terrorists that so long as Congress is in power, they can keep hitting India.. And, people like Advani and BJP are opposed to terrorism. That is the point. So, you and I cannot do much, except vote BJP and support them in their fight against terror..

What a Crass Title of Article! Whom did India hit back? Of course the terrorists who were holed up in hotels after killing hundreds had to be gunned down-no one was asking them to award trophies. Apart from this natural course of action, where did we hit back? The locals who supported terrorists are scot free. Dawood is scott free. Politicians who are supporting terrorist are scott free. All terrorist master minds are scott free. So where did we hit back? In the fleshy portion of our own bottoms, isn't it!
