Jammu Two months after JK cadre IPS officer Saji Mohan was arrested by the Mumbai ATS for possession of heroine, the Narcotics Control Bureau has ordered its own probe into the matter. Official sources revealed that the probe has been ordered by O P S Malik, Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau, following the recent arrest of Saji Mohan's personal security officers from Chandigarh in the case.

The arrestees include Balwinder Kumar, Superintendent, NCB in Chandigarh and Saji Mohan's PSOs Naveen Kumar and Devinder Pal Singh. Sources said that they were arrested on the charges of conspiring with Saji Mohan to siphon off heroin from seized contraband and then indulge in its trade.

Zonal Director, NCB, Jammu and Kashmir M K Sharma said, "A probe has been ordered by the NCB headquarters and an NCB team from the headquarter is expected to arrive in Jammu and Kashmir soon." The NCB team will scrutinise all his narcotics recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir, details of which have already been prepared by the NCB, J&K, sources said.

Saji Mohan's PSOs were flown to Mumbai following a request from the Mumbai ATS to the J-K Police but were let off after preliminary questioning. Sources said that Manjeet Singh, Saji's third PSO was not called in for questioning as his involvement was not suspected in the racket.

Saji Mohan held additional charge as Zonal Director, NCB, J&K when he was posted as the Zonal Director, NCB, Chandigarh. He was posted as Deputy Director, Directorate of Enforcement, Kochi in January this year.
