The fifteen-year-old daughters of general merchant Raj Kumar Batla suffer from ‘osteogenesis imperfecta’, an incurable disease due to which they cannot stand or walk.
Batla told The Indian Express that it is the happiest moment of their life. “My daughters have proved that they can do what others can.”
In 2007, Batla had tried to send his daughters to talent hunt shows on various television channels.
Though they could not be given a chance to appear on the shows in person, the channels aired the songs recorded by the sisters, which won them many admirers.
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, singer Lata Mangeshkar and comedian Raju Srivastava even have called up the two to congratulate them, acknowledging their talent and self-confidence.
Batla said he consulted many doctors in India and abroad but was told everywhere that there was no cure for the disease, even as research was going on in several institutions.
Shruti and Gore, who want to become singers, said they love their parents for the support and caring attitude due to which they have been able to earn a name for themselves. They said they would always try to make their parents proud of them.
