Posted: Jul 30, 2010 at 1749 hrs IST

Bhavnagar Close on the heels of arrest of former minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said state has become an battleground for nationalists versus anti-nationalists forces.

"The war between nationalists and anti-nationalists demons has started in Gujarat. But remember this is Gujarat, where anti-nationalists forces will be defeated", Modi said addressing a rally in Palitana town of this district.

"If you think that you can frighten me, you should open your ears and listen, Modi will bow down to truth and will fight 100 times against false," Modi said at a Van Mohatsav function.

"I want to tell Delhi Sultanat (central government), Gujarat is inheritor of legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who provided leadership to win our freedom.

Gujarat will win in this war of nationalism and anti-nationalism", he said.

"This country never takes side of those who stand besides terrorists, those fighting for rights of 'demons', anti-nationals and those related with underworld activities," Modi said.

Modi's close aide Shah has been arrested by the CBI for his alleged role in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case who according to Modi was a criminal. Modi throughout his address refrained from taking the name of CBI.

"Since last eight years there has been peace and development in the state. They are trying to destabilise the progress of Gujarat," Modi alleged.

"They are jealous of progress of Gujarat and so they are not trying to derail the progress of the state", he said.

addressing a rally in Ahmedabad, Modi yesterday had said Congress has already accepted defeat in the forthcoming local body polls and will have to field CBI officers as their candidates.

Is it fair trial ? by Ram on 31 Jul 2010

CBI is suggesting to shift the case out of Gujarat to have a "Fair Trial". But the probe by CBI till this moment is totally political and highly unfair. CBI has no locus standi to state that Gujarat is "unfair". The chargesheet is leaked to selective media before even the accused has a chance to look at it. CBI works for the TRP ratings of certain TV channels and there is no secretive investigation. Most of the trials are happening in the TV channels ignoring the case in courts. CBI - totally unfair and not eligible to say Gujarat state is unfair.

unfortunate by khursheed on 31 Jul 2010

its an unfortunate event for India, a ruling C M and his home minister is suspected in killing of innocent citizens. A criminal minded leader can not be well wisher of any caste or religion, a criminal is only criminal, he does not have any caste or religion, this types of people needs sever punishment. I can not give this credit to congress, because they are also having plenty of leaders of same mentality. Its a matter of time and verdict of Almighty, the criminal or terrorist or going to face tough time now. The CBI/ATS are honored these days because of having such human beings in their team who have clear soul and mind, may almighty bless them with good health and long life.

Killing of Interstate Gangster by JNM on 31 Jul 2010

Those killed by the Guj police, were Interstate Gangsters, cannot be called "Innocent Citizens" It is unfortunate that the Govt and media are taking so much interest in this case hijacking the burning issue of "Hyper Inflation" in the Country.

sonia's obstinacy by s.shankar on 31 Jul 2010

India is a federal country with each state having its own police force and High Court. While only issues of interpretation of law are permitted to reach the High Courts and then on to the Supreme Court, the facts are codified from the trial court level to the Sessions Court. You cannot keep transferring cases from the High court of the state, which is a straight insult to the people of Gujarat. This is fraught with extreme danger resulting in the collapse of our federal structure which will have very wide ramifications.CBI being used as the handmaiden to settle political differences by the central Govt.is nothing new.But with the political midgets at the helm of affairs at the centre hoping for sagacity is meanigless.Modi had no option but to declare an open war with centre.Sonia alone will be responsible for Gujarat seeking independence from India. Why should people of Gujarat have faith in the courts out side Gujarat if there is no reciprocity? Please stepback before it is too late.

Congress and the New India by apple99 on 31 Jul 2010

cbi, shorabuddin and Modi Government by ramakrishna on 31 Jul 2010

CBI asks for transfer of the case. Good. If CBI itself is suspect owing to the way it handled several casesin the past what remedy is there? Name an area of Indian Government which commands the confidence of the people in regard to its honesty and efficinecncy. Sanjay Gandhi had at one time remarked that for a bottle of Brandy judges can be bought! Ministers, MP,MLA,Officers,Clerks, Teachers,Students dont forget what a former Chief Election Commisisoner Seshan said-are corrupt. Governments which have failed in Kashmir,in keeping internal harmony, stability, use an election system which promotes religious and caste hatreds for obtaining power. Patriotism has evaporated after Indepndence Await a Hercules to clean the Augean stables.

NATIONALISM Vs DELHI SULTANATE by SS Bajwa on 31 Jul 2010

Mahatama Gandhi who was a firm believer in non-violence did not visualize that Indian politics will degenerate so much and so soon. Had he known that likes of Narendra Modi would be ruling after he left, he would not have sacrificed his life. He would have been very happy in South Africa. The security which Modi boasts of, was provided much better during the rule of AURANGZEB, and even during British rule. Did our previous generation paid the price for freedom to have this type of nationalism, where any one in power can get an inconvenient person eliminated by use of state force, and then professing that he is working for the wellbeing of the common man.

Situation by citizen on 31 Jul 2010

Was nice to hear the Mahatma's speaking through your medium. He would however had had second thoughts is he knew your thoughts on glories of Auranzeb's rule. How about getting an inconveneient person for Congress like Mr.Modi, charecter-assasinated through media? It is made to sound as if India is in excellent condition, and the only problem is Gujrat.

get your facts right by indian citizen on 31 Jul 2010

Mr Bajwa, are u sure of your facts? It was Aurangzeb who imposed Jaziya tax on Hindus and persecuted them for not converting to Islam. Also, it was Aurangzeb who killed the Sikh Gurus and his sons for refusing to embrace Islam. Aurangzeb is also guilty of murdering his own brother Dara. And you say security was much better during the rule of Aurangzeb? Prosperity and a full stomach have probably clouded your thinking.Do not misrepersent facts. As they say half knowledge is a dangerous thing. In your case there seems to be no knowledge at all, just hatred of Hindus.

So True! by dablupaplu on 31 Jul 2010

Well Said! Likes of Narendra Modi, whether they be in congress, BJP or Muslim parties, should be removed from power and punished!

Bang on by Pranav on 31 Jul 2010

Dear Mr. Modi, Bang on they have taken on the Gujarati I think it is time to hit back and hard. Let them get a taste of their own medicine they have become adapt at circumventing the law and its agencies to suit their purposes so hit back.

Gujarat by janney on 30 Jul 2010

Congress seems to be outdated. Day by day it is becoming a gang of anti social elements. This you can see every where.

So Narendra Modi is saying BJP will never rule India by raj on 30 Jul 2010

Well said Mr Narendra Modi. You have to do to some mental hospital. So you have agreed BJP wil rule only Gujarat. ANyone ruling from Delhi is anti-national. That means BJP will never come to power in center. No wonder BJP party is treating President, PM and Parliment very badly.

gujarat by sas on 31 Jul 2010

i am outsider(bengali) staying in gujarat, found that gujarat is far more devloped and peaceful state. To destroy its confidence against fighting terrorism will be really bad for not only gujarat but india. it is the state whose neighbour is pakistan and prone to get attacked by millitant. Only such type of act by CBI and central govt. will increase millitant/terror activity to boost up. Till now Central govt.could not take any action against Afjal guru or Kasab.Hope indian people should understand and support sternaction against terror and antinational activity.

So Narendra Modi is saying BJP will never rule India by Indian on 31 Jul 2010

Raj - I do not think you have understood what Modi said. Listen to his lecture directly and not rely on the news that you read.

Baseless, as usual by citizen on 31 Jul 2010

Nationalists vs anti-nationalists war raging in Guj: Modi by Aryaan on 30 Jul 2010

So according to Modi people involved in fake encounters, rape, extortions etc are nationalist just because they either belong to his party or are a part of his adminstration ???? Anyways what alse can one expect from a two faced shameless liar like him.

Charges by citizen on 30 Jul 2010

Who are the people pronounced guilty by the judicial system, on the charges you mention? Media cannot make a truth out of ten lies it shows over and over in prime-time. And do cut out the unsubstantiated name calling. India is a democracy, and one can always show ones opinion in the polls; which the people of Gujrat had done when they made mr.Modi CM for consecutive terms.

Charges by veekay on 31 Jul 2010

If one takes your views "Who are the people pronounced guilty by the judicial system,", then why are you and other paid agents of the sanghis are howling because some Gujrat politicians are being questioned and there is a possibility of Modi himself may be questioned? Why are you people so scared? Let the CBI questioning and the judicial process be over. can you keep quiet till then? And for haven's sake do not make Modi a HOLY COW, which can not be touched by the law of the country.

Falsehood by citizen on 01 Aug 2010

Veekay, why do you need to make up stories about someone getting scared, and someone being holy cow. Mr.Modi has mentioned of co-operating with the judiciary, and told that he will not be intimidated. You should keep quite on matters sub-judice.

natnlist war in guj by ABC on 31 Jul 2010

we must remember that in democracy people elect the leader. so to say if if a group of saints have to elect a leader amongst themselves, we can be rest assured that the leader would be a saint as a minimum. same holds good for a group thugs, if the elect a leader he has to be a thug (probably the biggest one). So if Mr. Modi is proved to be a criminal then we can understand what is the nature of the and principals and charactor of the majority who voted him as a leader. This is functioning democracy my dear friend.

Modi Vs Sonia by shankar on 31 Jul 2010

Mr.Veekay do you think CBI and Sonia are holy cows? during the last 40 years she has captured the north east, almost converted half of orissa and her conversions is opposed only by Modi and she has to eliminate him. try to use your head if you have it. all her personal aids are christians including Ambika Soni and they have a job on hand. sorabuddin is only an excuse. wake and fight for our India.

CHARGES -MODI by ss bajwa on 31 Jul 2010

Ayub Khan , Yaya Khan, Zia-ur-Rehman, Zia-Ul-Haq and so many more won the elections and ruled the country. Had Aurangzeb contested an election he would have won with 100% votes. Though this is the system we have accepted constitutionally, yet it does not say that people who win elections are the best. If we have to survive as a deocracy, necessary corrective measures will have to be taken, to ensure that our future generations are safe.

Democracy by citizen on 01 Aug 2010

Democracy is the choice of the majority people, and could be in-line with or against our personal wish. To call for correction is a democratic process can only lead to dictatorship. Also, Pakistani examples are out of context here.

SHRI MODIJI INDIA HAS NO PLACE FOR NATIONLIST by veekay on 31 Jul 2010

n.r.i. ji what did you want to convey in your confused message? Should there be no inquiry of the acts of the Gujrat govt ministers and thr officials? Should not Modi, being the head of the govt not questioned? Are they Holy Cow?

Canard by citizen on 31 Jul 2010

Veekay, you are trying to confuse readers by posing a question yourself, and answering it. Nowhere has Gujrat CM told that he won't co-operate with the judiciary. He has only mentioned that he won't give in to intimidation. So, don't make up allegations to accuse someone.

You the traitor n.r.i by Indian Citizen on 31 Jul 2010

You are supporting a Terrorist, Killer and perpetrator of Rapes/genocide, Burning etc. This shows how civilized you are. The anti nationals who go to Christian and Islamic countries with a begging bowl have no right to comment on India.

On what basis? by Citizen on 01 Aug 2010

Which court has passed the verdict the Gujrat CM is all that you have accused him to be? Just because it suits your political or ideological agenda, don't malign democratically elected leaders.

Pathetic by citizen on 31 Jul 2010

This may be because that is the right of Indian citizen, to go arounnd with a begging bowl to Christian and Muslim votebanks.

Cowbelt... by Roy on 31 Jul 2010

produce often get stale with age, your levels of comprehension are of low levels & at some point in time senikity sets in. Trillion dollars are part of a nations GDP surplus not a figment of imagination like you have. Anyways a nationalist like you should live in India & not sponge on western society which you so abhor & revile.

Ranting and Sabre Rattling by Sebastian Kushero on 30 Jul 2010

Whats the point you are making it seems confusing Tgere is no place for a Mass murderer and the Law will catch up with him for his misdeeds

law by navin on 31 Jul 2010

you know a joke, its one 3 letter word "law" its run by money, power, support of anti-nationals and of cource minorities vote bank. recently i heard friday has been officially declared a weekly off

Ranting and Sabre Rattling by Secular on 31 Jul 2010

Exactly right, Kushero! Because there is no place for mass murderers, people in Nehru family should have been hanged long time ago for the massacre of thousands of Sikhs in Golden Temple and in riots after execution of Indira. Also, murderers of 60 kar sevaks in Godhra should have been put to death and so should Afzal Guru, the son-in-law of Congress.

observer by indian on 31 Jul 2010

What about mass murder of Sikhs in 84'?What about cold blooded murder of Bhopal gas leak? What about mass murder of people committing suicides with family as they cannot make their ends meet due to poverty? India has become land of mass murders.

Modi the MM by viswanathan on 31 Jul 2010

So mr. indian is it your argument that mr. modi also has a right to commit mass murder ?

Hypothetical by citizen on 01 Aug 2010

No court has ruled that Mr.Modi has commited mass murder, so why the hypothetical question?

who is mass murderer here? by indian on 31 Jul 2010

Mr. Sebastiak kushera.. if there is no place for MASS murderer, then how come congress still exists after massacring 4000 sikhs.. or how come afzal guru is still NOT hanged.. or how come kasab still fed with briyani, even after the whole world saw him shooting mumbaikars like chicken in the GST station.. and lastly, what about the MASS murder of Bhopal Gas victims, and how come the sonia gandhi family still has place in india.. and lastly, how come people like you, who pounce so much lies have place in india? Why is the LAW not catching up jatadish tytler.. nor why is LAW not catching up those responsibel for Bhopal murders?

Nationalism by s s Nair on 31 Jul 2010

What a shame. The Supreme Court has no faith in Gujarat. Why Modi cannot find a place in International Court. He is not trusted by US and could not get a visa. Poor nationalist. Have mercy on him.

Democratic spirit by citizen on 01 Aug 2010

Mr.Modi is the Gujrat CM, who has been elected consecutively. The trust of the people of India is much more relevant that that of the US authorities. Shame on you for trying to belittle democracy.

Meaning by Mannath Padmanabhan Nair on 31 Jul 2010

Well, vote of the people counts much stronger in Indian democracy, than a US visa. And by the way, it is the Congress stooge CBI that wanted a transfer of case now, not Supreme court. Pity on bigots like you.

Nationalism by Anant on 30 Jul 2010

If nationalism is to protect the people who are responsible for genocides of innocents or be only a state proud rather than nation proud then it is better to be not a Modi style nationalist.

Speaking of which... by citizen on 30 Jul 2010

Genocide was also successfully implemented in the Kashmir valley on the Pundits during the course of last couple of decades. Yet, no media has bytes on this sytematic annihilation.

Even the Partition was not fully covered by the media by Jayadevan on 30 Jul 2010

Either the poster was too young in those days to read the newspapers, or he is deliberately obfuscating. We did not hear of the Kashmiri Pundit issue through Government of India press notices, young man! It is a fact that the AV media was not as developed in those days, so it was not covered by a camera team uplinking from the spot as was Gujarat 2002. Even the nationalist's bete noire, Teesta Setalvad's Communalism Combat had articles on the issue, though it started publication much after the exodus. Anyway, even if we concede that Namo is the media's favourite whipping boy, does that change facts a bit? Politicians everywhere are made of the same material, and the national flag is the fig leaf they all reach for when exposed, be it Indira, Rajiv or Namo.

Sincere motivation by citizen on 31 Jul 2010

That being agreed, however, just because there was no media focus then as is there now, one could scarcely say that the plight of the Kashmiri Pandits is a spent issue. If the cry for justice in India is sincere, an not politically motivated and selected to serve particular issues, then ourstanding issues like the enthnic cleansing in Kashmir deserve the highest importance.

Modi's rhetoric by Naim Naqvi on 30 Jul 2010

The same old words, the same worn-out tone and the same empty rhetoric! Narendra Modi knows well that the noose is tightening around the neck. May be lesser mortals, less-careful and low-cunning in crime-craft would be trapped in the net, but its open like a day that State Terror has been the name of the game of Gujarat. ..If you think that you can frighten me, you should open your ears and listen, Modi will bow down to truth and will fight 100 times against false - Modi said at a Van Mohatsav function. World knows the truth for long, only you have began to feel the heat of truth now. I want to tell Delhi Sultanat (central government), Gujarat is inheritor of legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who provided leadership to win our freedom. Gujarat was a tolerant Bahmani Sultanat in the pages of history and your administration has tarnished the image of Gandhi%u2019s Gujarat. You have long lost the right to speak about this saint of non-violence. Time of deliverance is near.

Paper tiger by citizen on 30 Jul 2010

Same old words, the same worm-out tone and the same empty rhetoric from supporters of parties that continuously proved to be shrill in the media, but a mere whimper when it comes to the people's choice shown through votes. The result of this charade may be a notch higher than the drubbing Congress got when it raised the maut-ka-saudagar issue last time around.

paper tiger by ysmuzumdar on 31 Jul 2010

congress lost gujrat but won india for two terms.let modi(lion) be confined to gujrat.

Mass-based leader by citizen on 31 Jul 2010

Fortunately or unfortunately India is not a dictatorship to confine people. You speak of Gujrat like a foreign country, while it is very much a part of the Indian democratic system.

Mdi will win by Kaushik Patel on 30 Jul 2010

Modi is absolutely right. Congress is trying by hook or crook to destablise Gujarat and cause unrest in Gujarat. It can't win politically and hence using unfair means to destablise a popular government. But I am sure that the people of Gujarat and also India have seen through this game of congress and will give them a hard hitting reply. As for the english media, the less said the better. It is worshipper of Sohrabuddin and company and working at the beshest of congress party.
