The photographs are all inspired by nature — the dawn of Ladakh where people stack hay on rooftop, the Welsh mist, the moonscape of Kargil, the algae-green waters of the Taman Negara in Malaysia and the blue ripples on the Pangong Tso of Ladakh — with the light posing splendidly in them. One of the remarkable works is of the Dras valley. “The light just skims the snaking road and gives it a surreal touch. The mountains in the backdrop heighten its beauty,” said an impressed Deepika Jindal of the Stainless Art Gallery.
While the photographer has steered clear of his home state Kerala, there was a half-Malayali, Ajay Jadeja, to release the book Let There Be Light, a collection of Nair’s photographs, published by Roli and priced at Rs 1,000. “I am no art buff but my association with it goes back to my childhood days which I spent with Manu Parekh,” said Jadeja. “But I am disappointed that Nair hasn’t taken any pictures of Kerala, the most picturesque land.”
The photographs are priced at Rs 15,000 onwards and the exhibition at the Visual Art Gallery will be on till January 21.
