Solan, February 19 Concerned over the alleged violation of rules for recruitment of Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe candidates, Himachal Pradesh Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Employees’ Welfare Association today urged Chief Minister P.K. Dhumal to order a judicial probe into all the recruitments made by the authorities of Dr Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, during the past three years.

The association also urged Dhumal and the Governor to direct the university to fill up all the vacant posts reserved for schedule caste and schedule tribe (SC/ST) candidates in various departments.

Talking to mediapersons, spokesman of the association Amar Nath Dhiman today alleged that authorities of Parmar varsity had violated the recruitment rules of SC and ST candidates by appointing candidates of general categories on at least 11 posts.

Giving details, Dhiman alleged that the university administration had advertised some posts of training associates, assistant extension specialists and assistant scientists in the month of July 2006, out of which only three posts were reserved for SC/ST candidates.

The authorities in ads published in various newspapers for the recruitment of assistant extension specialist (plant pathology), assistant extension specialist (soil science) and others did not mention any post for reserved categories in 2005 and 2006. Interestingly, the administration, however, mentioned the requisite fee with application forms for the SC/ST candidates.

Dhiman said that despite a number of SC/ST candidates in the fray, the concerned authorities recruited candidates of general category to these posts. He said that the association intended to approach the court to get their grievances redressed. When contacted, Parmar university vice-chancellor Dr Jagmohan Singh denied the allegations said that all recruitments had been made as per rules.
