Barring a few dampeners most dishes are packed with flavours. Stick to the ‘Silk specials’ and hear out those handy suggestions made by the staffers, chances are you won’t be disappointed. The prices are modest and mesh with the neighborhood locale. Probably the most expensive entrée on the menu would be a prawn dish for Rs 350.
We tried the Silk dimsum (Rs 125) that had a special chicken broth filling. The Tom Yum soup with prawns (Rs 124) wasn’t particularly memorable, but the Silk Special soup (Rs 175), a light brew with glass noodles was good. The Crispy Congee Lamb (Rs 225) went well with their pan-fried noodles. Refreshingly candid on the menu is sliced fish in coriander lemon sauce (Rs 245). Mini slices of steamed fish dipped in a fresh lemon juice and garnished with coriander and chopped onions enfold delicate flavours. Prawn in black bean sauce (Rs 350) is avoidable as the chunks of prawns were under seasoned and the sauce was a bit too mild. The dessert section is varied, especially the chocolate recipes, and Silk has its liquor license in place.
Meal for two: Rs 800
