Kolkata, April 19 A newly-wed couple allegedly committed suicide at their residence on Friday night in Sonalipark in Thakurpukur. The Police are yet to ascertain the motive of the suicide as no suicide note has been found.

Bubai Dey (22) and Khuku Dey (18) had an affair for the past four years. Both were residents of Mahestolla.

Their families were against their affair. However, five months back the duo ran away from their homes and got married. Later on, they took a rented house in Sonalipark in Thakurpukur and started living there. Bubai used to work in a local bakery.

At about 10 pm one of the locals, who went to visit them, got no response despite repeated knocks at the door. Alarmed, he called other neighbours, who forced their way in.

In the bedroom they found the husband and wife lying on the bed while the TV was on.

They informed the police. The duo was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital. “The bodies of the couple were found in their bedroom. But we could not find a suicide note. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” said Pravin Kumar, Police Superintendent of North 24-Parganas.
