New Delhi, March 11 The CBI has refuted before the Supreme Court allegations that it was shielding the main accused in Nithari serial killing, Maninder Singh Pandher.

The investigating agency, in its counter affidavit filed in response to a petition filed by a victim’s mother, said, “False, scurrilous and baseless allegations have been made by the mother of a victim against the CBI Director and other senior officer. The said allegations are scandalous and ought not to be countenanced at all.”

The CBI’s response came on a petition filed by Vandana Sarkar, whose daughter was one of the victims of the Nithari serial killings, alleging that the agency was trying to protect Pander.
