Allahabad Taking a dig at Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s statements that women who got raped, would be provided with government jobs if they were educated, BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said he would prefer an administration which would chop off the hands of rapists so that people would not dare to outrage the modesty of women.

The BJP president also said the party intended to establish Ram Rajya in the state, if it came to power.

Addressing a press conference, Gadkari said: “Hum aisa prashashan chahte hain jahaan aise logon ka haath kalam kar diya jaaye taaki koi behen beti ki izzat se khelne ki himmat na kar sake (We want an administration where people like these - meaning rapists - hands were chopped so that none dared to outrage the modesty of our sisters and daughters).”

Earlier, Gadkari said he was surprised over Mulayam Singh Yadav’s comment that women, who were raped, would be given jobs if they were educated.

When asked about Karnataka ministers found allegedly viewing objectionable mobile phone clips in the state legislature premises, Gadkari said that they have been asked to resign and an inquiry would be held on the issue.

Talking on the issue of reservation, Gadkari said Congress and other parties should not fool the minorities in the name of reservation. “Congress is saying it would give nine per cent to Muslims. SP is saying it would give 18 per cent. Both of them should tell people, as to whose share will they reduce - the OBC or the Scheduled Castes,” he said, while pointing out that the Supreme Court has already set a cap for reservation that cannot go beyond 50 per cent.

Taking a dig on senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who had said that President’s rule was an option if his Party did not come to majority, Gadkari said: “Let us leave him. When his own party does not take him seriously, why should we take him seriously.”
