This year, 130 MLAs, including RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiquei, and two MLCs have failed to declare their assets within the December 31 deadline.
Bihar has 243 MLAs and 75 MLCs — 23 MLAs and six MLCs are ministers. The state government made assets declaration mandatory for ministers in 2010 and asked all legislators to declare their assets from 2011.
Nitish’s moveable assets include bank balance of Rs 6,15,662, a flat worth Rs 40 lakh in New Delhi, and a car. He has 30 tolas of gold and five kg silver utensils. Nitish has also declared two cows and three calves worth Rs 83,000. He has a bank loan of Rs 84,192. His son Nishant has moveable assets and cash worth Rs 73,60,126 and land worth Rs 42,69,404. The cumulative assets of the two are worth Rs 1,62,45,192 as against their assets of Rs 1,50,64,199 last year.
Modi, his wife and son have assets worth Rs 1,17,33,228. They own a flat worth Rs 36.7 lakh at Ghaziabad, UP. Modi has 510 gm of gold and a Maruti Swift car. Last year, his assets were worth Rs 1,06,80,314.
Shooting real estate prices notwithstanding, neither Nitish nor Modi has shown appreciation of their Delhi and Ghaziabad properties, respectively, over the last one year. The last name on this year’s list is that of Janardhan Singh Singriwal with property worth Rs 15.74 lakh.
Last year’s list of crorepatis had P K Shahi, Brishen Patel, Ramai Ram, besides Nitish and Modi.
Nitish nominated for Gates award
Nitish Kumar is one of the six persons nominated for the first Gates Vaccine Innovation award, instituted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. “CM has got nomination. We’re waiting for its announ-cement,” said Principal Secretary (Health) Amarjit Sinha. ENS

Unless the wealth is apparently disproportionate to the known sources of income, there can be no presumptin of corrupt practices. Nitish has been MLA, mp, Central Minister, Chief Minister, he is aged also; hence the assets reported do not appear scandalous. No one should be overzealous to unnecessarily condemn the politicians. It is not in the interest of anybody. Instead it helps in creating an undesirable social environment where many unsuspecting simple citizens come to believe that every one is dishonest in this country which is like a slap on the innumerable honest citizens.

We all are greedy want to make fast money and the society gives status with your hefty bank balance. Who cares whether it is ill gotten wealth or genuine.
