After being the toast of town for their dramatic gowns and old-world glamour, designer sisters Gauri and Nainika were clearly bogged down by expectations this season. For their show at the fashion week, the duo’s famous drapes were intact, yet the gowns appeared fussy and busy, a far cry from their straight lines and elegant cuts last year. In ruffled silks and bold colours, there were some stunners, but they were very few and very far between. Their trademark at the show, a black velvet strap running through all the garments, contrasted with the feminine style too much. Bips or no Bips, the show was a tad disappointing.
