New Delhi, January 8: Malaysia on Tuesday denied any freeze on employment of Indian workers.

“It is not true. There is no such thing,” Malaysian Works Minister Samy Vellu, who is in New Delhi for the conference of overseas Indians, told reporters when asked about news reports from Kuala Lumpur in this regard.

“I just spoke to the Prime Minister (Abdullah Badawi), Minister of Human Resources and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs. It (news reports) is not true. There is no such thing,” he said.

Vellu, also the President of Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), said Indian workers are already there and when it is needed they are welcome.

Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi, who was also present, said he believed the Malaysian Minister was right.

“I heard him speak to the Prime Minister. There is no truth in the story. We believe him. As and when more (information) comes on it, we will talk about it,” he said.

The world is so wide. Many sensible countries are viving for Indians by Anand Babu on 09 Jan 2008

Many Indians go to Malaysia thinking that they can earn more by saving Ringgit and when conver it to Indian currency it is substantial. But the reality is their life is miserable after they come here. The schools here teach in Malay language so you cannot put your children there. The police in Malaysia are a wretched lot, corrupt and inept. They have a dislike for Indian people. Worst if you are dark skinned. They will lick the feet if you are fair skinned. This country is one of the worst in the sout east asia. It is better no Indians go there to work. Let them bring more Bengaladeshis then their Malay women will be happy as they like to sleep with them (of course with out their husbands knowledge)

Malaysia no longer a friendly country to India by Dr.Raghav on 09 Jan 2008

Ihave been working here in malaysia for last 10years, as doctor. But not bothered about malaysian governments decision, because day by day indian currency is appreciating and with last one year we lost 25% of our salary. Actually we were planning of comming back to india. Malaysia is country there many things are doing by unwritten rules, or by oral orders. They are trying to black mail indian government.we would be very happy if the government of India boldly take a decision to cancell the defenece deal and ban exports from Malaysia , and ban free admission for malaysian students in indian collages. They have taken ban deceision and signed defence deal. We should not allow malaysian to enter in our army bases , they are no longer a friendly country of us and allow themto enter our army centres for training is a great threat to our national security.

Not Applicable for IT people by KARTHIKEYAN PAPPAIYAN on 09 Jan 2008

I understand that from local news and other Medias this announcement is applicable for NON-IT resources. No problem for existing workers/labors/professionals up to their visa valid. I think no one Indian labors/worker/professional will be interested to renew their visas after working for some time in Malaysia. Every day Indian currency is appreciating against all international currencies (There is no much benifit for our resources here). So, nothing to worry more about this issue. Indians can do...Indians will do anything in and around world... Jaihind– Karthik Indian from Malaysia

Indian contribution to the global economy by Vineeta on 09 Jan 2008

In today's day and age when the world is moving towards a global economy, I'm suprised that people actually make such comments. In terms of Indians posing a threat to other communities - I feel just the opposite, Indian workers have contributed significantly to the growth of various economies.
