Banaskantha Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said he has 'no chance' of becoming the Prime Minister if the party returns to power in the coming Lok Sabha elections but added he 'cannot say anything about distant future'.

“No chance. Since the Congress has decided on present Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as its prime ministerial candidate of the UPA, the question does not arise,” he said, while interacting with tribals here on Sunday.

“As to whether I will be PM candidate in 2014, I cannot say anything about distant future,” the 38-year-old replied when a youth in Sanali village of Danta taluka here asked him when he would become the Prime Minister.

Rahul ended his two-day whirlwind tour of Gujarat on Monday evening.

He started the second day of his tour by visiting Ambaji temple in North Gujarat early on Monday morning. Then he went to Gandhinagar where he inspected an enrollment drive by the Youth Congress.

Rahul thereafter visited the Youth Congress enrollment booth in Khanapur area and met with people who had lined up to join the party.

How sad that must be for Sonia Gandhi whose one-point programme is to see her son the prime minister.

You can't become a Municipal Councilor by deleting your title by Indiboy on 24 Feb 2009

Except your Congress Rajya sabha coterie no one else wants to see you as India's Prime Minister. What change have you brought to Indian polity being in the ruling Party in the last 5 years??? Have you been able to develop your own Amethi Constituency in U.P? Your title is Gandhi, the same as that of our father of Nation, but except that what other similarities do you have with him?

Shame, Shame on you Rahul Gandhi !! by Aniyan on 24 Feb 2009

Chance ???? What is your eligibility? In which University were you student union leader? How many decades of services you rendered to Students Union and Youth Congress? How many times you conducted Dharna, Satyagraha and how many processions you led for the welfare of the people? How many times you were injured in police lathicharge? Describe the grass root positions you occupied and led the people viz. Mandalam , Block, Zilla, State and Central areas? No contributions ??? Then how come you are talking of the highest position of the country?? Dont you have shame Mr.Gandhi. You are the junior most of all the Congress workers in the country. Go and sit at the back bench and work with the people to understand what is India and how Indians look like. Indian Prime Ministership is not Nehru family owned.

Rahul, don't waste your time by Malyadri D.T. on 24 Feb 2009

I fail to understand why this foreign educated, intelligent young man is wasting his time in this meaningless pursuit. He should rather devote himself totally to constructive work, and the rest will either come to him, or its loss will not be felt.
