"Had comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet been the general secretary of CPI(M) then I would have seen some hope in this possibility as he differentiated between personal and political differences. But with Prakash Karat being at the helm, I see no such hope now," Singh told reporters.
Singh made the remark when asked if there is a possibility of SP joining the Third Front if the Mayawati-led BSP walked out of the alliance.
"Recently, I wanted to meet Karat on a very personal issue. He refused to meet me claiming that I was with Congress. One of his Politburo members told reporters that 'Amar Singh wanted to meet, but we refused'," Singh said.
He said the media had highlighted "my reported insult" at a dinner meeting at Sonia Gandhi's residence.
"I do not know whether I was invited there. Left leaders took me with them. My treatment there was their responsibility. Had the Left parties defended us then, the SP would not have remained isolated...they did not bother about our reported insult and continued with their support to Congress," he added. The SP leader also said, "After spending four-and-a-half years with Congress, Left parties now oppose it. But today we have ideological similarities with Congress. Even if we may not have an alliance on seats with it, ideological understanding is very much there with Congress."
Amar Singh further said, "Out of L K Advani, Mayawati and Manmohan Singh, we consider Manmohan Singh an ideal person" (as a Prime Minister)."
Attacking the various Third Front constituents, he said BJD shared an alliance with BJP for 11 years. "Now the reason why they have split is due to differences over seat sharing...even after the rape incidents of nuns in Kandhamal, Patnaik continued to run the government, despite pressure," he alleged.
"Similarly, till a few days back, Kumaraswamy had an alliance with BJP in Karnataka, and they shared good relations, now the JD(S) is anti-BJP," Singh said.
The SP leader reiterated that without Sonia Gandhi and Congress, no anti-BJP government was possible after the Lok Sabha elections.

Great! I guess Karat is worse that the farmer from the south.....
The Third Front should rename itself as the Middle Front. The Front has many middlemen and middlewomen. 'Third' also gives the impression that it is inferior to the first and the second.
Amar Singh and Karat are good for some pre-election noises. That is all they are worth in the service of the country.
Thank you very much Mr. Amar Singh for being so clear to the people. Third front will be more respectable without the Master Broker and his party with them. He knows very well that with the Communists around, it will be difficult for him to play his games. Memory of the public is said to be short. But it is not that short to forget that this gentleman made a trip to USA when the Left bloc decided to withdraw the support to the Congress led UPA government. He brokered for the Bush government - for they had to take India into their military camp as a subordinate member - and saved the Manmohan Singh government from falling. Subsequently some BJP MPs remained absent in Parliament. Some BJP MPs displayed currency notes in Parliament. Then we came to know approximately that much money was missing from BJP's shelf. After that we heard Mr Amar Singh has donated a paltry some to a Trust in USA.How smart!!! People hate these power brokers. People still remember this gentleman.
Amar Singh now speaks as a Congress hench man! Fantastic. He will score very well with Sonia Gandhi; so he can reap. If SP ideologically agree with the Congress Party, why then two partis? Again for Mulayam
Dont put Amarsingh words in papers..He is a mental..Send him to mental asylum...
for once amar singh has spoken the way only he can, that to from his heart.cpm with karat as the head will and has suffered from loss off credibility. On the issue of pro and anti communal forces what has yechury to say about Naveens stand about the violence and atrocities on a innocent nun.As for kumarasamy he was the CM with the support of the BJP what have those poor guys done for his dad to call them communal. In fact NAVEEN said the breakup from BJP was on seat sharing and not BJPs divisve agenda. If at all anybody can be articulate in exposing the truth of karats paranoid nature then AMAR is the right man.Yechury will never ever be able to explain these contrdictions in his partys stand.Karat has a real problem in his head and he needs the politburo to vote him out and once he is shown the door he will get back to reality and that is the CPM is a movement and not anybodys property. The only way the communist movement can be salvaged for the future is a total white wash in kerala.
You will join them after Election or take support from them or give support to them for the sake of India. For saving country from NDA, as u people are SECULAR and u people will try to form govt after election by hook or crook. Aisa hi kahte hain aap Neta log!!
Amarsigh is such an opportunistic commission agent that he will have no hesitation in embracing Shri Karat, if the thiird frot comes to power. Amarsinh's loyalty is not any political principles but only to power and money.
