New Delhi, August 28 Power woes continued in the Capital for the fourth day, with several areas experiencing powercuts due to low frequency in the Northern Grid.

The power department officials, however, claimed that the situation was improving.

Many areas including Dwarka, went without power on Wednesday as well as Thursday for several hours.

A senior official of the power department said the demand in the evening was recorded at 3,777 MW — the shortfall was about 91 MW.

“We are overdrawing power upto the permissible level to meet the shortfall,” he said.

The official said Delhi’s local power generation was only 850 MW against the scheduled capacity of over 1,400 MW.

On Wednesday, the Delhi government had sought the Centre’s help to overcome the problem and asked the discoms to plan long-term and short-term measures to ensure uninterrupted supply in the Capital.

Delhi Power Minister A K Walia requested the Union Power Ministry to help ensure the supply of the promised 400 megawatts power to Delhi by the Damodar Valley Corporation.

The power situation in the city has deteriorated since Monday due to under-frequency in the grid.
