NOIDA/DADRI, March 11 To keep a check on “uncontrolled” use of the Janta College Helipad in Dadri, especially for marriage parties, and two unsafe landings in as many days, the District Magistrate today ordered an inquiry into the incidents.

District Magistrate Shravan Kumar has also asked for the procedure followed while granting permission and arranging security for the use of helicopters and the helipad. Officials say while security arrangements for official use of the helipad are in place, private users are not provided even the basic facilities.

For his marriage reception on Monday, Pradeep Bhardwaj, a resident of Dadri, used the facility to fly to the venue in Aligarh to marry Mamta Sharma.

While Bhardwaj’s father Gajendra Sharma said just five security personnel were present at the helipad, an official said, “A fire-control vehicle and a staff of at least 50 men should be stationed at the helipad.”

Moreover, an accident was also averted. “A dozen animals roaming in the landing area started running frantically when the helicopter was landing or taking off,” Sharma said.

Officials, however, many use the helicopters and the helipad without permission from authorities.

The administration is planning to make it mandatory for private users to seek permission from the administration for the facility.
