New Delhi The Noida gangrape case gave fresh ammunition to Union Minister Renuka Chaudhary to take on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and the fiery Congress leader also favoured death sentence to the accused.

Chaudhary, the Minister for Women and Child Development, taunted Mayawati to ‘stop dreaming’ of becoming Prime Minister since Tuesday's case of gangrape of a young unmarried girl in Noida came on the heels of the Nithari and Aurshi cases in her state.

She said none of the five youth arrested for allegedly raping the MBA student should get bail.

"How did they think that they can do such a thing and get away. And when that question arises you start questioning the Government. So I think we have to start questioning the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, what she has to say about this," she said.

The Minister said, "You have Nithari and Arushi cases, you have Noida rapes. And that is sad if you can't solve the problem.”

"I think you (Mayawati) should stop dreaming of being the Prime Minister," said Chaudhary who had earlier also got into a war of words with the BSP supremo following the Arushi murder and the Nithari child killings.

On what punishment should be meted out to the accused, she said, "It is a non-bailable offence. None of them should get bail and after that I believe that the people have to believe that there is a genuine investigation and what kind of people we are that we cannot protect our daughters."

Chaudhary said her personal view was that the accused should get death sentence.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) constituted a two-member committee to inquire into the incident. The team also visited Noida.

Right step by UPA Renuka to reestablish secularism by Shameless Indian Secular Hindu on 07 Jan 2009

Renuka is a brave secular. She was defending Arjun secular when he thought he can get away with the murder of his daughter in law, but this case is committed by unseculars so instead of law of comnunal land, Renuka's secular law must prevail. She has also attacked a woman Mayawatie so it is clear that issue is not feminism but secularism. Renuka had bravely kept her mouth shut during Mumbai small incident where women and children were tortured and killed to uphold secularism by not attacking brother muxxlims.

How Far Noid from Delhi? Stop showing finger to other. Conress in in center and why not making tough law. Do not use dirty politics in his case instead helping. god bless renuka

what kind of people we ar?e by nishant singhal on 07 Jan 2009

Very shameful cooments from renuka choudhary. Mere politics!!!!! Just few days ago when irl in delhi was raped, Delhi CM shiela dixit said that " Girls should not stay out of home so late and should come back early". Ws that a good example of governance? Surely not! but there was no comment at that time form renuka choudhary. As far as Nithari and arushi cases are concerned, they are being investigated by CBI, which is a central agency and not from UP goverment. However, her I am not saying that law and order is in perfect shape in UP but that is bad in whole country not just in UP. Governance is really bad in whole country, take terrorism, satyam fraud just to name a few recent incidents. As a indian citizen, I at least expect from indian politicians like renuka choudhary to at least do their job sincerely and not just dirty politics.

ATROCITIES TOWARDS WOMEN by Pradeep Kumar on 07 Jan 2009

NOW-A-DAYS, SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF WOMEN

Remedy by romesh.sharma on 07 Jan 2009

Apart from the facts mentioned by commentators I would like to add the possible remedy to check/minimize such crime which is legalizing of brothels. The brothels ,especially in modernized cities under strict control by health department and lawful control is the only immidiate possibility.Educating frustrated youth will take half a century to make them realize and behave like civilized people.

noidagangrape isitindian culture by paulsonkanaparthy on 07 Jan 2009

Gangrap by Ramanna on 07 Jan 2009

Such crimes are on rsie only beacause criminals, especially spoiled youths of wealrhy parents, now think that they can escape easily with the money power they have and somehow our investigation

Pathetic by Senthil on 07 Jan 2009

One question.. Why don't you try to push this as a law? You pulling politics into this shows your pathetic mindset.. The more you politicians speak the more you people frustrate us.. So please stop giving statements. You are just looking for oppurtunities of people suffering to poke into others.. You seem to be more enraged with Mayawati wanting to become a PM than with the incident itself.. It has to be one of your loved ones to realize bringing politics into these issues can be painful to those affected..

ironical that upa rules india - rape happened in india by ashok pai on 07 Jan 2009

does mayawati rule another country ? dont congress led states have crimes committed ? are their states magically better ?

Crime of rape by S.P.Singal on 07 Jan 2009

Act of rape is more heinous than murder inasmuch as, unlike the victim of murder, the victim of rape lives to see her constant death through her shame. Considering the increase in the number of rape cases in India and the impunity with which they are committed and the loopholes in investigation sometimes because of inherent infirmities in the procedure and quite often with complicity of the corrupt investigating officers, it is imperative that a fresh look is given to the manner in which rape cases should be dealt with. Renuka Chowdhary should take the initiative. In any case, the punishment for the rape crime should mandatorily be "DEATH".

Horrifying by Harry on 07 Jan 2009

These bloody rapists should be castrated and hung upside down in public, and the people should be chance to whip them.

why single out Mayavati by mallanna on 07 Jan 2009

as a union cabinet minister for Women and Child Development, you ensure that these criminals are punished but dont talk rubbish politics. what about the gang rape incident that has come to light from your own constituency? how different is she from the noida girl that you are not talking about it? unfortunately how come the media did not ask the minister about the second incident? is it because it is from a Congress ruled state?

Cant blame only criminals, we also have some responsibility by Indhea on 07 Jan 2009

Day by day criminals count increasing, we are not punishing them with strict law, instead restricting police not to arrest them if their imprison is lesser than 7 years. Person starts with small criminal activity and escaped or punished with months imprisonment, he repeats the same mistake and go for jail. It is becoming part of his normal life. If someone repating the mistake, the action must be very strong, but not happened. We cant forgive this rapist, but that doesnt meant that others are right. Now a days we say number of lovers and teans who wear dress very sexy, and they used to meet and stay in remote place to spend their time. You can find many such people in the east coast road of Chennai. Criminals make use of this chance for doing mistake, even many occasion things are not blown to the public, since they are also doing mistake. So we can't blame only criminals, we also be correct.

Noida gangrape: 'What kind of people are we'? by Dr. F.S.K. Barar on 07 Jan 2009

The recent MBA student's gangrape in Noida is a shameful and distressing crime against womankind. Such repeated occurences, specially in Noida, are because of a weak police force, and lack of will to punish the culprit. In addition, the law also is deficient in its capacity to bring such persons to book, and awarding them exemplary punishment. These two factors perpetuate this crime, and the criminal indulges in such foolhardy, reckless and deplorable activity. The remedy lies in strenthening the police force, and by providing strong teeth to the law. Extraneous vested influences on the investigating agency in a way offer unjust protection to the culprit.

Noida Gangrape by A.N.Banerjee on 07 Jan 2009

There should not be any mercy for the rapist. They should be summarily put to rigorous life imprisiment,if found guilty. Investigation should be done by CBI and report should withi shortest time ( within a month preferably) .

Noida rape by Anil on 07 Jan 2009

Law and Order. The problem is that the Centre is not responsible for law and order anywhere in the country.

Renu, the politician by sbala on 07 Jan 2009

It is because of people like Renu who play politics with every tragedy that citizens have lost faith in law. Why can not these people recruit honest people to the police, train them well and stop interfering in their activities instead of corrupting the whole system and spending time watching filthy movies and hobnobbing with criminals and cinemawallas?

enocunter by subbaiah on 07 Jan 2009

where are the human rights people. if there is an encounter they talk so much. the police should should shoot these rapists in encounters. in future whoever thinks of rape will at least think twice. they should be shot dead in a encounter. the human rights will keep barking, let ehm bark.

IMAGE IF HINDUS by iNDIAN on 07 Jan 2009

World wide image of India is bad. Rape is as equal as terrorism. So what is missiing now is law and order. Delhi and its surrounding cities are unsafe for people.

gang rape by Siva Kumar on 07 Jan 2009

You were minister when such thing happened iunder your nose in Delhi. You didn't utter a word. That will not justify the present act and the guys should be jailed.Easy to raise fingure on others.

POLICE SHOULD KILL RAPISTS IN ENCOUNTER by Ravi on 07 Jan 2009

In India Law is just not working. These very people who breaks law will come out with bail and one fine day out of public memory. All the law enforcing agencies in India have failed miserably. All the north Indian cities including Delhi(The rape capital of India) are not safe for women. Govt. should think of providing Rifles and Pistols to women free of cost for self defence against male barbarians. HANG THESE RUFFIANS OR PUBLIC SHOULD STONE THEM TO DEATH OR POLICE SHOULD KILL THEM IN ENCOUNTER AS THEY DID IT IN HYDERABAD IN ACID THROWING CASE. Don't ever believe police or court for justice. It will be another case of acquittal.

Election Speech by Anil Kohli on 07 Jan 2009

Now this lady has got a chance to open her mouth.Look around us and where ever there is something wrong, all trails lead to the political class. This breed is solely responsible for all that ails India today. Is it not a fact the sons of Politicians have got away with murder. Just because another Party is governing a state so much of talk, had it been their own party's government the response would have been absolutely the opposite.Nobody is going get taken in with this talk.Only talk and do nothing for the public.

noida rape by luhera on 07 Jan 2009

We feel here ashamed of being an indian. We supposed to say Our girls r more safe in india. We should understand its effects now worldwide the image of india.Instead of blaming each other two female ministers in above article.Just hange up guilty persons the rate rape victims will be zero.
