Noida, May 17: In a sensational twist to the brutal killing of a 14-year-old school student, police found the body of ‘suspect’ Hemraj, the domestic help, from the terrace of the house.

The body of 45-year-old Yam Prasad Banjade alias Hemraj, a person of Nepali origin, whom the police suspected as having fatally stabbed the girl, was surprisingly found by a former police official who went to the terrace after breaking open a lock on the door upstairs.

"Since we have found the body of Hemraj from the roof top of the same house, our line of investigation has changed," Noida Superintendent of Police Mahesh Kumar Sharma said.

He said the police is now investigating whether any third person is involved. They were trying to find out whether Hemraj had committed suicide or if there was any foul play.

UP DGP Vikram Singh admitted to bungling on the part of local police in failing to locate the body.

Promising thorough investigation, he said there were three or four possibilities including murder of Hemraj but he would not like to get into a discussion on them. It all depends on the post-mortem report, which he expected in a few hours, and the contents of the viscera.

On Friday, the police found the body of Aarushi Talwar, a student of DPS School, Noida in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

Hemraj was the main suspect in the murder as he was ‘missing’ since Aarushi's body was found.

police and media by shajan c mathew on 18 May 2008

If the police share every deatails of a probe with the media, this will be the natural outcome.

Murder of DPS student by G Krishnamurthy on 17 May 2008

The behavior of the police in this case has been reprehensible. As usual, they have leaked news to the media without any proper investigation. Can the police stop talking to the media and focus on solving the case?

Murder of DPS Student by Ramachandran on 17 May 2008

It is very easy to say that Police should keep quiet. But the media in their zeal to report the story by breaking news pester the police to talk to them and share the information. In these situations, it would be better if the police maintains a stance that "we have just started investigation and as soon as the investigation is over we will keep you posted".Further it is a pity that police should have skipped to see the places around including the terrace etc.
