Mumbai, January 18 The Goregaon police on Friday filed a non-cognisable complaint against actor-turned-MP Govinda for slapping a visitor, Santosh Rai, on Tuesday on the sets of Money Hai to Honey Hai. The complaint was filed by Rai under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and section 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC against the actor.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XI), Makrand Ranade said, “We have filed a complaint against the actor but since the charges are non-cognisable there is no possibility of arrest,” he said.

The Congress MP was caught on camera slapping Rai on Tuesday at Filmistan and he accused Rai of misbehaving with artistes, including women.

Rai told Newsline that he didn’t want to come before the media. “But I decided to file the complaint after I saw the statements from the actor saying I was misbehaving with women. This is absolutely false,” he said.

“There is no question of apologising to him,” Govinda told reporters outside the Filmistan studios, PTI said. He claimed that Rai’s decision to lodge a complaint was politically motivated, according to PTI.

When Newsline tried to reach Govinda, he was unavailable for comment.

Rai, who is originally from Kolkata, used to work with a finance company and is now planning to switch to the insurance sector, said that on Tuesday he had gone to meet a client near Filmistan. “When I couldn’t meet him, I went to Filmistan where Govinda was shooting. I was just watching the shoot while sitting behind the director, who was watching the shots on a monitor. After a few minutes, Govinda asked me whether I was working on the sets or accompanying anyone. When I replied in the negative, he just slapped me,” Rai said.
