Agra, March 26: A three-year-old girl fell into a 45-feet deep bore well at a village near Agra on Tuesday night and rescue operations were on to pull out the girl from the pit.

Vandana fell into the bore well in Hulaspura village while playing with her father, police said.

"The girl fell into the pit last night. The estimated depth of the pit is 35-40 feet and a parallel one of the same dimension is being dug besides it to rescue the girl," Kamal Saxena, DIG, Agra said.

Food and oxygen are being supplied to the girl through ropes from the surface, they said.

Sources said Army was called in after efforts by the locals to rescue the girl failed.

The rescuers said it will take another couple of hours to pull the girl out from the pit and added that her voice could be heard.

"The bore well was dug about a month ago and it was not successful but only a few pipes were removed from the well. It was covered with rugs so that children could not notice it," District Magistrate Mukesh Mishram said.

He also hoped that the girl would be rescued soon.
