New Delhi, April 24: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday saw no wrong in projecting the achievements of the Nehru-Gandhi family after an opposition member objected to it in the Lok Sabha.

"Why not!" exclaimed Gandhi while sitting in the front row when a BJP member Kharabela Swain took exception to the ‘excessive highlighting’ of Nehru-Gandhi family by the ruling coalition.

Gandhi's remarks were immediately echoed by several ruling party MPs including the I&B minister PR Dasmunsi.

"I am proud that there are some families of freedom fighters, who have made a significant contribution in the freedom struggle. I cannot remove the names of such families simply because of your demand," Dasmunsi said looking at the Opposition benches.

He was replying to the discussion on demands for grants for Information and Broadcasting.
