Chandigarh, February 11 The principals of MCM DAV College, Sector 36 and DAV College, Sector 10 have been served notices for their failure to provide information under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The notices have been issued by CPIO of the Office of Director, Higher Education (Colleges). The applicants, Professor R P Singh, Arun Kumar and Avanindra Chopra, had sought information about the annual fee structure, contributory provident fund and expenditure incurred on advertisements by colleges. But the applicants claimed they did not get the requisite information. Professor Anil Sarwal, president of DAV College Teachers’ Union, said the office of DHE had issued an advisory to the principal of DAV College, S Marriya, to abide by the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005. Principals of all the seven aided colleges were made CPIOs of their respective colleges. The two DAV colleges, however, ignored these letters and denied information.

Principal of MCM DAV College, Dr Puneet Bedi, said the letter has been forwarded to the DAV management. —ENS
