"Now is the time for miracles in Pakistan.... The international community, especially the United States, must support us in this endeavour instead of continuing with the erroneous belief that alliance with a strongman is its best bet to bring stability to Pakistan," Zardari said in a commentary in Chicago Tribune.
The widower of slain former premier Benazir Bhutto said the Pakistani electorate had repudiated the status quo in the Monday elections.
"They rose, almost as one, and said "enough" to dictatorship which has exacerbated terrorism in Pakistan," he said reffering to the severe drubbing suffered by pro-Musharraf PML(Q).
"It is the intent of the Pakistan People's Party to form a broad-based, democratic, liberal government – an umbrella of reconciliation and consensus," said Zardari, who is the co-chairman of Pakistan People's Party that won 87 of the 268 seats for which elections were held to emerge as the biggest party.
Despite massive pre-election and election-day rigging, the PPP leader said the people of Pakistan voted their confidence in democracy and rejected the forces of dictatorship.

ZARDARI (MR. 10%)IS VERY SIMILAR TO OUR OWN LALLU THE CHARACHOR OF BIHAAR, IMAGINE THE CHOR SELLING DREAMS TO POOR PEOPLE OF MIRACLES, INFECT, IF WE DONT LOOK AFTER OUR DEMOCRACY HERE IN INDIA. LALLU MAY EVEN ONE DAY BECOME OUR PRESIDENT, SO THERE IS A LESSON TO BE LEARNED FROM ELECTION IN PAKISTAN
Hope this brings much needed change in Pakistan. The leaders have to realize that their real enemy is their archaic Madarssas and misguided religious Clerics. They will have to move away from the policy of viewing India as their Phantom Enemy. But the kind of leaders they have, I doubt much can change over there. Anyway, I sincerely wish them all the luck !
It would need to be seen what impact the current situation makes upon the jihadi cum terrorist movement. It would be ironic if this movement continues to go on despite committed misguided youngsters, as their elders are celebrating the change and respite from religion based violence and resultant chaos, which had a kind of 'free-run' for a long time locally under the Musharraf's regime.
World has a lot of hope hiding in it's heart from Pakistan. It has been beaten up so much from corruption and violence under the military dictatorship, that one wonders what a pitiful life would be of it's citizens. For Indians, it is again the same question- whether this democratically elected government will be able to develop a long term vision of peace and love which has been felt to be desperately lacking from it's preceding politicians including the founding father. Can peace and love, overcome hatered one day ! Anyway, hope that the pakistani citizens will have some respite from utter chaos and disorder, which would be good for India too.
