New Delhi, September 4: Stepping up their offensive following US 'disclosures' on the nuclear deal, the Left and the BJP demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation and immediate convening of Parliament, as the UPA government rejected charges that India will lose the sovereign right to conduct an atomic test.

The 'disclosures' set off a flurry of political activity and high-level meetings in the capital while the Government and the Congress went on a damage control mode to claim there is nothing new in the 'disclosures' and no cause for alarm over a fallout of the Indo-US nuclear deal for India.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was targetted by the BJP and the Left who accused him of misleading the Parliament and nation over impact of the nuke deal on future atomic tests.

BJP leader Yashwant Singh said the BJP would move a privilege motion against the government and would not like to wait till October 17 when the Parliament is due to meet again.

The CPM general secretary Prakash Karat demanded a fresh session for moving a no-confidence motion against the government. The government was also accused of ‘cheating’ and ‘lying’ over the deal.
