They were followed by Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, Chesley Sullenberger, and Mother Teresa in the same order.
The online survey involved 2,634 US adults, reports the 'Chicago Sun-Times'.
The news report said that those surveyed were asked whom they admired enough to call their heroes, but were not shown any list of people to choose from.
In a Harris Poll conducted in 2001, Jesus Christ was the hero mentioned most often, followed by Martin Luther King, Colin Powell, John F. Kennedy and Mother Teresa.
Bush was rated 19th at the time, but the latest list shows him to be on number five.
John McCain, who was not in the top 20 in 2001, is presently number seven.
Mother Teresa, who was number 5 in 2001, is now number 10.

Please do not compare Obama and Jesus Christ.In the first place the organisers of this poll should be ashamed of themselves, it is a delibrate ploy to bring dowm Obama. Obama has already accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, how dare you compare Jesus with Obama in a contest. Jesus is God and Lord, Barack Obama is human; therefore, there is no basis for comparison. Opinion poll or not, Jesus Christ is Lord.

Which American asshole thought of including Jesus in the survey? He must have been born through his mother's asshole.

This shows that American people are mentally not fit . All Americans need mental treatment otherwise they will not do like that. Thank you for such rating system. For heaven´s sake, please never put Jesus Christ at par with human leaders. Although Jesus became human, he was Son of God. All others in the list are only human persons, and not Gods. For a simple reason of Faith, please never ever bring him to human way of comparing. Thank you.
