Weekly magazine 'Us' had planned on running a photo of the Obama family on the cover of their current issue, but replaced the first family with a story about Jessica Simpson's "Weight-Gate".
But Obama laughed off the incident by saying ,"Yeah, it's a little hurtful," when he was informed about the magazine's decision to replace him with Simpson by NBC's Matt Lauer during an interview.
"Who's in a weight battle, apparently," Obama quipped, reading the magazine's cover.
The 28 year old singer Jessica Simpson became the centre of a media blitz surrounding her recent weight gain when she was clicked in Florida last week wearing high-waisted jeans and a tight black tank top.

We think that Jessica looks very pretty the way she is. She gained a few pounds..so what? She's not even fat at all, just because she gained a pant size doesn't mean she's fat. People don't talk about how fat other people are in Hollywood. Maybe she gained weight because of her stupid boyfriend Tony Romo who cheated on her! He did her wrong.

The caption under the picture was about her weight battle. He wasn't making a quip about anything that was not already there.
Got a question for you Marilyn: What do you call someone who makes offensive remarks while failing to notice the guy was READING ALOUD THE HEADLINE ON THE COVER OF A MAGAZINE, NOT COMMENTING ON JESSICA SIMPSON'S WEIGHT. He shut down Guantamo Bay, where the former president and vice president authorized prisoners to be tortured instead of tried in a court of law. And since you mentioned it, think God is blessing America right now with a pragmatic leader who chose two of his presidential election oponents and members of the opposing party to be in his Cabinet because he believes they're the best for the job? It appears President Obama cares as much about making the cover of Us Magazine as you care about not sounding ignorant.

I think Jessica looks WONDERFUL with the weight gain!! (sort of like Marilyn Monroe) If Obama gives her a "dig" about it, perhaps he should take a GOOD look at what's sleeping beside him!!! THAT'S serious FAT!!! I think his remark was spiteful because he was taken out of the picture. He apparantly has let this "president" thing go to his head already. God Bless America!!!
Michelle Obama is not FAT..she is a real women just like Jessica has become...they both look great!!
Didn't you see that Obama was kidding? He has a good sense of humor and he was NOT cutting down Jessica, but the rather the tabloid -- by laughing at the headlines. But your comment is downright rude about his wife. I know it's hard to believe he is a real person with a real sense of humor, but get used to it.
His "dig" was more in reference to the fact that a women putting on weight is news. We have young men sleeping in ditches, and being shot at daily overseas and the fact that Simpson may or may not have put on weight is a load of crap and I have serious issue with anyone who gives a darn. I love how you say "God Bless America" the respect the man that the people have elected and maybe you should watch more national news then read people magazine so you know that there is more in the world then Simpson's pants getting tight and who the Jonas brothers are dating. I am emarrassed for you.
