Washington, September 4: US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama once again touched on the ticklish issue of outsourcing and while vowing to end tax breaks to companies that ship works overseas conceded that all lost jobs could not be redeemed.

Promising to retain as well as create more jobs for the Americans, the Democratic nominee said while all lost jobs cannot be redeemed, further movement can be halted by giving incentives to companies investing in the country.

"Not all jobs that have left are going to come back. We can stop some of them that are already leaving by stopping to give tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas and saving those tax breaks for investing in plants and equipment right here in the US," Obama said at a campaign stop in Ohio.

Maintaining that the issues of energy are going to be the "centrepiece of re-building manufacturing in the US", Obama said having energy as one of its main economic planks will ensure creation of millions of jobs as there are growing energy needs in emerging economies like India and China.

Terming the high growth in India and China as a "huge opportunity" for America's energy sector, Obama said the US should choose to invest in clean alternative technologies to milk this opportunity.

"We know that energy is going to be driving the economy in the future. Think about it. China, India -- they are all growing, and they are all deciding we would not mind having a car, too. So as they drive we're already seeing demand outstrip supply in terms of oil," Obama said.

"If we can put research and development into clean coal technology, then we're the Saudi Arabia of coal. And that, right away, helps us and it helps the Ohio economy," Senator Obama said, adding, "the same is true on nuclear energy".

In his opening remarks Senator Obama had his standard refrain on outsourcing, a theme that he and his campaign have been hammering away in a state like Ohio that has taken a hard hit economically, especially in the manufacturing sector.

"We can put millions of people back to work. Five million new jobs that cannot be outsourced in the clean energy sector jobs. If we have got bold leadership from the White House," Senator Obama said.

Outsourcing in India by TAG$ on 06 Dec 2009

I agree that since the outsourcing has been moved to INDIA there are some problems for jobs in US. But let me tell u people some thing. I have seen some Americans who are just returning the product in the stores since they dont know to use it. And the reason they give is that there is a fault in the device. They don't even like to give a try. How can be people so DUMMY? Let me tell you , 25% of indians are settled across the world , and most of the intelligent products which americans pretend that it belongs to them , is discovered and manufactured by Indian engineers. India has always been a source of business and it will be. And people from united states , instead of holding a gun in the hand and robbing the civilians on the road , try to get educated and beat us in the right way U can.

NO more Outsourcing! by Jack on 11 Jun 2011

Dude you don't know the first thing about America... I hope that we ban all outsourcing. You can't even speak proper English. The American people are feed up with call centers answered by Indian people - now don't get me wrong here, there is nothing wrong with your India or you as people, it's just we live in America and want to speak to an American if we call in somewhere, we have a hard time understanding you when you talk. Also it's bad business for US to send jobs your way. America was once the Industrial capital of the world. If we want to get back to that point we have to stop outsourcing. By the way.. "holding a gun in the hand and robbing the civilians" - are you joking, where does this happen?

Outsourcing in India by Shri on 31 Aug 2010

American jobs should stay in america and indian jobs should stay in india for the indian people. Jobs should not be moving around the country and driving people into bankruptcy. Being an indian myself and knowing that india has such a rich and old culture I can't imagine anyone of my people having such a small mind to wrie "And people from united states , instead of holding a gun in the hand and robbing the civilians on the road , try to get educated and beat us in the right way U can." This must have been posted by a uneducated teenager, I hope this does not reflect on all indians. Many of us are actually good and understanding people that just simply need jobs to feed the family.
