Everestchya Paythyashi, a book by Dr Sandeep Shrotri talks about the inescapable magic of the mountain

There is Everest in everybody's life,
But everybody's Everest is different!

Satara-based surgeon Dr Sandeep Shrotri is no exception to this. He visited the Himalayas nearly six times and every time he came back, he narrated the tale of their glory to the friends and people he came in contact with. One visit to Everest, however, turned Shrotri into a writer, the author of a book- Everestchya Paythyashi.

The book, published by Continental will be released on Saturday, June 14 at S M Joshi hall, Pune. In 132 pages, the book talks about the author's journey from his house in Satara to the Everest base camp, 5000 meters above the mean sea level. The writer in his own style also puts in words the picturesque beauty of Sagarmatha national park, one of the destinations during the expedition. "The region is rich. Not many people know that the park has over 6000 medicinal plants. The weather, the climate and the entire atmosphere near the base camp is charged with divine energy. Everything there is larger than life. It was an emotional moment seeing the monuments of mountaineers who lost their lives while on their missions to concur Everest," says Shrotri.

"All the mountaineers have a dream of visiting Everest. But then no one is well equipped with information about the mountain. This book in addition to the journey describes the basics like-how to prepare for the trek, what are the accessories one needs to take while going to Everest, what is the weather like and what is the best season to visit Everest," informs Shrotri.

He further adds, "Visiting Everest is a mission and a dream but then visiting Everest base camp is like a rehearsal and the best part about this rehearsal is that three out of five tallest peaks in the world- Everest, Kanchanjunga and Lhotse can be seen easily during this trek. It is difficult to put in words, the experience that I got during the visit, but then I have tried my level best to give the readers a close-to-reality experience and tell them what exactly I felt like during my visits there. " You can also call it the high point of his life.
