London, January 1: Bilawal Bhutto, thrust into the political spotlight by the assassination of his mother in Pakistan, can count on support from at least one source -- female Facebook fans, who describe him as "hot".

"Oh My God he's cute," said one contributor to "Let's not assassinate Bilawal Bhutto because he's hot, ok?," a new group on the social networking site after the 19-year-old was named last week to succeed his mother as leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

"Oh God, I totally agree. He's so sexy," added another member of the group, which so far had 48 members.

The Oxford undergraduate, who attended his mother Benazir Bhutto's funeral last Friday, reveals a few things about himself on his own Facebook site, describing his political views as "liberal".

"What's Islamic extremism? It's strict adherence to a particular interpretation of seventh century Islamic law as practiced by the prophet Mohammed, and when I say 'strict adherence', I'm not kidding around.

"Men are forced to pray, wear their beards a certain length," he wrote on his Facebook site, which says he has 315 friends.

Bilawal, who is due to return to his studies in Oxford this month, lists his hobbies as cricket, swimming, squash and shooting, his favourite TV shows include "The Simpsons" and top filmmakers Michael Moore and Quentin Tarantino.

Other details are revealed by online friends: the Guardian printed a picture of him in fancy dress as the devil at a Halloween Party with red horns and a trident.

The role of media in. glorifying young and inexperienced people as "Yuvarajas" by Hary Nambiar on 03 Jan 2008

I agree with Syed Zainulabedin. Zayed, population in various countrries, especially in India and Pakistan have not progressed in respect of democracy. Most people have not reached the level of intellectual maturity to prevemt exploitation of democracy by selfish politicians. This is aided by the self righteous, but unenlightened journalists who are at the mercy of monolostic media management who have their own agenda of selling their rag sheet, increase their circulation and collect advertisement revenue. They are also influenced by the equally stupid film industry. There is a vicious cycle of demnostration effect. People read about what are commonly and routinely published. So the media has a serious role in promoting nonsense. All over the world, they publish the pictures and glorifying information about their current leaders. In various states, information and pictures of the people you mentioned often get printed. The description of Bilawal as "HOT" is totally stupid. What is 'HOT?" He is a western educated teenager, whose current ideology is influenced by his school peers. If he is given a chance he will also grow into the same kind of selfish politicians you mentioned. Rarely does a person grow up and mature into a leader who would care for the welfare of the people. Let us hope that young man would be able to grow up and live a long life as everyone is entitled. However, glorifying Bilawal, the "Yuvaraja" of Pakistan is as stupid as making Rahul as the "Yuvaraja" of India, Stalin as the "Yuvaraja" of Tamil Nadu, Kumaraswamy as the "Yuvaraja" of Karnataka and Uddav Thakaray the "Yuvaraja" of Shiva Sena.

what is going on? by Jamilah on 02 Jan 2008

Liberal isn't quite the word... dressed up like the 'devil' for Halloween? Also for him to say that men are forced to pray and wear their beards a certain length is just ignorant. Muslim men do that because its part of their faith. If he wants to turn his back on that, he can, but he should not promote it to others.

family dynasty by Syed Zainulabedin on 02 Jan 2008

India and Pakistan can be two different nations but culturally they are same and following the family dynasty even in politics. Nehru made Indira his successor, Indira made Rajiv her successor, Sonia succeed Rajiv and Rahul is ready to succeed Sonia. If this is congress culture other political parties and no different with congress. Mulayam made his son Aklesh Singh MP and his successor, Sharad Pawar got her daughter elected to Rajya Sabha, DMK Superemo Karunanadhi made his son Stalin his successor and got elected her daughter to Rajya Sabha, Self styled Shiv Sena Chief made his son Udhay Thackary party's working president, Lalu prasad yadav of Bihar transfered the power to his wife Rabri Devi, BJP's Pramod Mahajan's daughter joined the politics and Maneka Gandhi projecting Varun Gandhi as her successor. Defame Deva Gowda bring both his son to politics. If these things happen when the other people who have no clout in politics will be able to come on scene.

Girls please leave Bilawal for time being by Avijit on 02 Jan 2008

Girls make entire tragic death of Banazir into mockery by harping on the "Hot" face of her bereaved son, Bilawal. Come'n Girls be sensitive and intelligent and you can project him 'hot' later after his bereavment is over.
