The list of the successful candidates in the first year of the implementation of the OBC quota was declared at IIM-C on May 1. Seven students from the OBC category made it to the post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM) course on basis of merit.

Subrata Mitra, in-charge of admissions at IIM-C, said about 25 OBC candidates whose names were in the general list were called for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) on the basis of their CAT scores.

“We have already sent offer letters to them,” said Mitra. Students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories have made it to the general merit list over the last few years. But the number is very few, said Mitra.

The candidates who have sought the benefit of the quota will have to wait a little longer. Another round of GD will be held on May 15 for OBC candidates before the final list is out.

The OBC candidates seeking quota will have to submit an affidavit declaring that they do not belong to the creamy layer. The IIM-C was to put up the list on April 12. But the decision was put on hold after the Supreme Court gave its nod to the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in all Central institutions.
