New Delhi Open to a CBI probe into the Satyam fraud, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the IT firm resorted to "embellishment" of bank accounts for more than seven years.

"Investigation has so far revealed embellishment of bank accounts by the Company for more than seven years to impress the clients within the country and overseas. Our Government would welcome making over the case to CBI, if deemed appropriate," Reddy said in a letter to the Prime Minister.

Stressing a coordinated mechanism between the Central agencies and departments like SEBI and the Serious Fraud Investigation Office, he said the scope of probe underway by the state government included Satyam's connection with the Maytas firms.

The Maytas firms are an infrastructure group promoted by the family members of Satyam's disgraced former Chairman Ramalinga Raju.

YSR finally seems to have got the confidence that his CID has cleaned up any evidence against him and now the CBI can be brought in.

How can center not override state govt. decision? by Hopes on 28 Jan 2009

I think the Andhra Govt. took its time to sort out the accounts - to ensure that their deeds are not exposed by central investigation agencies.. Not they are ready for center to do the investigation. How can center not override the decision of state agency?

Hail secularism! it means media keeping stone deaf silence on this matter by oldindian on 29 Jan 2009

what a Question? in congress italian amma is puppeteer and rest of them are just puppets. If amma is happy about rajashekhar and does not wants him to do anything or give him enough time (like how she did to shivraj patil) to cover his trails, who are we very ordinary mortals to ask that question? Even media has fallen prey to that or may be to her being memsahib. Otherwise how do you explain the studied silence these guys have been maintaining over murder of 80 year old man (swamiji of kandhamal) for so long while they scream their head out over what is happening in mangalore? Again if you find there is no news about rajasthan CM's pronouncement over pub culture credit it to their secular credentials. Remember we are secular country. the way english media has done everything to make the word secularism all encompassing is really remarkable. Keeping silent over inaction of rajashekhar reddy over his maneuvering the judicial process so that SEBI and SFIO cannot lay their hands on Raju is again an act of secularism.
