Tibet freedom

Beijing China warned the United States on Wednesday that its criticism of the situation in Tibet could harm relations between the two nations.

"We ask the US side... to acknowledge that Tibet is a part of China and oppose Tibetan independence, to avoid harming overall China-US relations and to stop using the Tibet issue to interfere in China's internal affairs," foreign ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said in a statement.

On Tuesday, the White House and the US State Department voiced criticism of how China handles the Tibetan region.

Long live independent Tibet by Ashamed Indian on 14 Mar 2009

To hell with the Chinese warnings . The sole super power should not bow down to the threats of the trecherous Chinese. It is now the responsibility of USA to uphold the struggle of the enslaved people of Tibet who have lived for 60 years under the very heavy jack boots of the Han Chinese. Although ourGovernment isspineless, this is oneaspect where the government is not a representative ofthe Indian people. Avast majority ofIndian would like Tibet to be free and independent of Chinese rule so tha tit can fulfill the aspirations of its people

Tibet's freedom is a lost cause thanks to the world sitting on the bone of its backside at the appropriate time.

Tibetans need autonomy not independance from China. by S.Balakrishnan on 11 Mar 2009

Why should USA say somthing that even Dalai Lama has not claimed. Tibet was handed over to the Communists lock stock and barrel by the Indian government headed by Nehru and no one has since claimed Tibet to be independant. The only issue is the autonomy of the people guarenteed by the Chinese PM Chou en Lai in return for Indian abandonment of its residual rights in Tibet secured by the British as the controlling power of India when they ruled India. This autonomy is sacred to the Tibetans and to the world. China has abused its power and not honored the Autonomy pledge. It is this that the USA and India and all the worlds power demands from China. During the cultural revolution China has desecrated the Tibetan monastries and ancient relics of the Tibetan people. Even now it refuses to acknowledge the Tibetan right for autonomy and self governance. it makes Tibetans a subordinate people by importing many ethnic huns into the Tibetan land. It is China that must change.

Tibetans need independance from China. by Ashamed Indian on 14 Mar 2009

Balu, Abraham Lincoln had once famously said that 'No country is good enough to rule over another country'. So , although there is a school of thought that India would have been better off under British rule , it was of utmost importance that India became free of British rule. In the same way itis ofutmost importance that Tibet also became free. The Dalai Lama obviously said that under duress. Given the circumstances in which Tibet is today, this was obviously the best that he could ask for. Youare roght about Nehruvian Trechery and the rape of Tibet by the Han Chinese which continues unabated even today. That is the reason why that when ever any foreign dignitary visits China The Chinese first make him agree to the concept of one China and Tibet being an integral part of China. Unfortunatelysuccessive Indian Governments have all but abandoned the valient people of Tibet for no gains at all Shame on us Indians for our desertion

US should oppose...? by SK on 11 Mar 2009

How can China think and demand that US should oppose Tibetan independence. US has been promoting democracy around the world including in the midleeast. It will amount to a double talk then....
