About 25 students from various colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh were given the Swami Vivekanand Youth Award for 2007-08. The function was held in collaboration with Swami Vivekanand Study Circle.
Vice Chancellor Dr M S Kang was the chief guest at the function. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Vivekanand was a great thinker with a broad outlook, who believed that all religions of the world are true.”
Jalandhar Municipal Commissioner C S Talwar highlighted that Swami Vivekanand was a true symbol of unity, strength and secularism.
He urged the youth to undertake selfless service for the society with honesty, and follow the teachings of Swami Vivekanand in the true spirit.
Dr AK Jain, general secretary of the organization, “Students who have a brilliant academic record, participate in extra-curricular activities, and have qualities like patriotism, honesty, a broad outlook, leadership ability and sincerity are conferred with the award.”
The students honoured at the function included Kamini Nagi, Sanju Srivastav, Anayat Ali, Manasvinee, Harleen Kaur Dua, Nishi Madkan, Anantdeep Kaur, Mandeep Jaglan, Gaurav Dari, Chhavi, Vidushi Sood, Dikshikha Aggarwal, Kusum, Baljeet Kaur, Nirjal Devi, Navdeep Kaur, Pawan Kumar, Prabhleen Kaur, Navdeep Singh, Siddharth, Hira Singh, Subrajit Mishra and Poonam.
