London Notwithstanding the wide spread call of boycott by the international cricket community after the Lahore terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has vowed to co-host the 2011 World Cup.

Putting aside all the apprehensions by the international cricket associations, the PCB chairman, Ijaz Butt has said that Pakistan would be hosting an international team in the coming six to nine months, and that it will be hosting the 2011 World Cup.

"I would expect teams will tour here again as soon as possible. I would give it six to nine months to get things organised,” 'The News' quoted Butt, as saying.

Butt urged the Pakistan Government to provide fool-proof security to the visiting teams.

"Once I have this assurance I may then invite people to come here. But this can happen anywhere. I cannot give that guarantee, but my government can. If they cannot, then we will not have cricket in Pakistan at all. I definitely think that we will stage part of the World Cup in 2011,” Butt said.

Butt also expressed his discontent over the comments of match referee Chris Broad, who said that they were not provided enough security cover during the Pakistan tour.

"I totally disagree with Chris Broad, he is overdoing it. And it is wrong if the International Cricket Council is siding with one man's opinion. I have told them that this opinion is totally wrong," he said.

The game will continue by Shivakumar Gopalakrishnan on 09 Mar 2009

I agree that cricket should continue in pakistan for more than one reason. But, we have got to be pragmatic. SL Cricketers are supposed to given, presidential security. That definitely does not seem to be the case. Adhering to commitments does not seem to be a trait in Pakistan.
