PNB adopts Khuda Lahora village

Chandigarh, March 1 As part of its social drive for development of rural India, Punjab National Bank today adopted Khuda Lahora village under the village adoption scheme of NABARD. R D Kailey, senior regional manager, said the bank will undertake different developmental activities of common interest besides organising awareness camps about its schemes as well as impart financial education to the rural people.

Kailey said the bank will issue a biometric smart card in the city to let uneducated people operate their bank accounts. A village development committee consisting of the sarpanch, lead district manager of PNB, and the branch manager, Khuda Lahora will be set up, he said.

Sewing machines were distributed to women belonging to the weaker section of the society. Kamlesh Sharma and Swaran Kaur, sarpanch of Khuda Lahora and Khuda Jassu villages, S K Sharma, Chief Manager, PNB, Chandigarh were present at the occasion.
