PNB’s pilot projects for the poor

Ludhiana, May 16 PNB will launch its financial inclusion programme on May 18, to reach out to the poor persons and bring them within the fold of the banking sector.

According to a statement issued by the bank here, Ludhiana has a population of 40-45 lakh, and migrant labourers constitute almost 25% of its total population. While these labourers play a prominent role in the growth of the city, no attempt has been made to bring them in the banking fold, said the statement.

Dr KC Chakrabarty, Chairman and Managing Director, Punjab National Bank, has identified 27 pilot projects. In rural areas, 20 such projects have been started, with seven in urban areas. Dr KC Chakrabarty and JM Garg are visiting Ludhiana on May 18 to launch PNB’s seventh pilot project in the country,and the first Financial Inclusion Project at an urban centre.

    As members of a "social bookmarking" community, del.icio.us sers can also see how many other people have bookmarked the same pages, and they can look at those users' bookmark collections to find other interesting online content.

    Reddit

    Reddit allows users to submit news articles and other online content to the site. Users also give articles a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Reddit then uses those votes to build a user profile and to find articles to recommend to you. Users can also submit comments on items posted to the site.
