PSEB approves table marking for Science, Commerce streams

Chandigarh, January 31 A meeting of the board of directors of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) was held on Thursday. The meeting was presided by Board Chairman Dr Dallbir Singh Dhillon. Dr Dhillon said that the directors had decided to constitute a committee to consider applications for corrections in the date of birth or father/mother’s name etc of candidates.

The Chairman of the Director Board has been empowered to take appropriate action on the issue. Dhillon added that the meeting had also approved table marking of Senior Secondary (XII) answer sheets of Science and Commerce subjects by the Board of Directors. The Board has also decided to introduce on spot evaluations of answer sheets of Class XII to avoid delays in declaring the results. Sources said that Zone wise centers would be formed at the District headquarters for spot evaluation, under the supervision of a senior official of the board and Education Department.

The honorarium for evaluation will be raised from Rs 2 to Rs 4 per answer sheet. The directors also decided to amend examination regulations regarding school-to-school migration.

The new rules state that school-to-school migration will be allowed only till the last date of receipt of examination form by the board. However, the chairman may allow migration in exceptional cases, such as transfer/death of parents etc.

The Board Chairman has also been empowered to allow migration up to February end with payment of the requisite fee. In case of XI class students, the Board may allow migration by 31st December. It was also decided that a merit certificate would also be awarded to students, who make it to the merit list in the annual examinations conducted by the board.

The Board also empowered the chairman to decide cases of appeals filed by the Board employees.

The Chairman will form a committee to decide these cases.

A number of eminent persons such as Chief Parliamentary Secretary Harish Rai Dhanda and Shri Sukhpal Singh, Director General School Education Krishan Kumar, DPI(Secondary Education) Dr Jagtar Singh Khattra attended the meeting.
