Patiala, March 12 The Punjab Technical Services Union today organised a sit-in protest outside the Punjab State Electricity Board head office in Patiala. The union members demanded that the government stop the privatisation process of the power sector and reinstate the dismissed union members.

Power sector employees from Khanna, Ludhiana, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, Tarantaran, Jalandhar and Amritsar also blocked the traffic movement on Mall Road.

“We have helped the board to function smoothly. The debts incurred by the board are due to the negative attitude of various state governments. The employees should not suffer for their attitude,” said general secretary of the union Sukhwant Singh Sekhon.

Vice-president of the union Gurdeep Singh warned the government that they will intensify the agitation if it does not take steps to stop the privatisation process.
